Time to get up!

Are you good about waking up in the morning when you are supposed to, or are you the type that keeps hitting the snooze button until you end up being late? I hate to wake up in the morning. I try my best not to. Usually I am the last person up in the house. The baby wakes up anywhere between 6 and 7, he's usually the first one up. My oldest has to be up around 6:30 to get ready for school at 7:30. The twins have to get up at 7:30 to leave for school at 8:30 and the toddler is usually up by 8. Our alarm goes off at about 6:30 if the baby isn't up first. Since hubby usually has to get up and get ready for work, he'll get up with the kids most mornings, and I can sleep until about 7:30 or 8, whenever he has to leave. Sometimes I still don't want to get up though, and on weekends when the kids aren't leaving for school I might sleep a bit longer, until 8:30 or 9. This week however I've actually been getting up when I'm supposed to. Today actually I woke up all on my own before the alarm even went off, it was only because I needed to go to the bathroom, but 2 of my kids were already up, so I stayed up at that point. Do you like to wake up in the morning, or do you try to sleep as long as you can?

I too have a difficult time getting up in the morning. I do work part time, and that requires that I be in at 7am. So, when forced to, I'm up at 5:30am. That by no way means that I'm awake. I do need to have a cup of coffee before my feet hit the floor, and I am fortunate enough to have a very loving husband, who needs to be out the door by 6am, and he usually wakes me with a cup of coffee. Once I get to work, I do need to drink another cup (at least) of caffeine to wake up, but often that isn't enough either. Most days I resort to drinking a caffinated soda, and from the time I have my first dose of caffeine to when my brain actually awakens can take as many as 5 hours! I know the reasons why I'm like this, so I question if your inability to get out of bed in the morning may not be linked to a medical condition. I am not a doctor, so don't take what I'm saying as medical advice, but I do suggest you discuss this with a medical professional, if you haven't already. There are many disorders that can attribute to what you are experiencing, and if the doctors can't pinpoint the cause, I would strongly suggest seeing a Sleep Disorder Specialist. I wish you lots of luck, and hope to one day hear good new from you that you have this condition under control.

Hi there Kats, Would be lovely to sleep in, however, since having children, I haven't been able to sleep past 0600. Ofttimes I'm awake even earlier. Just can't do it. Have tried. Why, it's school holidays over here at the mo' and the kids have 6 - 7 weeks of not having to rise early and what do I do? Wake up bleeding early!!! It is annoying. Mind you with the weather being as lovely as it is, twould seem a shame to waste it, I suppose. It is 0740 at the moment - the sun is shining (and I mean brightly) and I really should be doing something productive but what am I doing? Chatting to you lot lol. Have a great day.

I hate getting up in the morning. I will usually try to sleep as long as I can. but once my kids are up I have to get up. They are too young to let alone and my husband is already gone for work. I will hit the snooze bar till I can't hit it no more. I don't get up late, but I won't get up till I have to get up to keep from being late. I'm definitely not a morning person. I tend to be grumpy if anything but the alarm wakes me up. Once I'm up though, I'm up. I can't usually fall back asleep.

I'm lucky that I have the older child. There has been times he's gotten himself off to school because we slept in too late. He sets his own alarm and knows what to do in the morning, and he walks to school, so doesn't need us to do anything for him. Then on the weekends he is old enough to help with the little kids. He'll make bottles for the baby and give the baby and toddler their breakfast. The twins make their own breakfast. Usually they'll all sit on the sofa and watch cartoons until I come down. The only thing they don't do is change diapers, and I have never tried to get them to. Sometimes the babies are so wet I have to change their outfit, but that's okay.

I don't like to wake up in the morning, but I have too. I get my son up at 6:45 for school and if his sister is still asleep when he leaves I will sometimes lay back down. I did that yesterday and she did not wake up until 9:30. I decided not to today, but it is 9:15 and she is still asleep. Now I am wishing I had gone and laid back down, but I know if I do now she will be up in no time. She must be going through a growth spurt cause she is usually up by 7.

I know what you mean. My youngest has never slept past 7am, but I remember while I was pregnant for him my toddler (who was around a year old at the time) went through a short spurt where he was sleeping till 8:30 or 9 am. After I got the kids off to school I'd always debate going back to sleep, but figured the moment I walked in the room he'd wake up, so I'd just enjoy the quiet while I had the chance.

I usually am a morning person. I don't mind getting up. The only problem is if my son is up during the night i tend to be more tired then usual and on those morning i may hit the snooze button a couple of times. Thats why i set my alarm for half an hour before i am suppose to get up. Then if i hit the snooze button i want be late because i get up after a couple of times.

My husband does that too and it drives me nuts! Because I don't have to get up, but the alarm clock keeps waking me up. I end up kicking him until he gets out of bed. He's not a morning person either.

My husband sets the alarm on his phone, which I do hear in the morning. But, he immediatly jumps up, turns it off, and gets right out of bed. What I wouldn't give to be that kind of person! So, although the initial alarm may cause me to stir, I usually fall right back to sleep. When I worked full time, and had to get up every morning, I too was guilty of hitting the snooze button repeatedly before actually rolling out of bed. The process usually took me about a half an hours. However, when my son was young (he's old enough to get up on his own now), I didn't seem to have any problem getting out of bed at the first call. But, then again, that was a long time ago, and it was 4am. Can you imagine how long your days are when you get up at 4am every morning?

If my day started at 4am, it would be ending much earlier than it already does, that's for certain!

I am not a morning person. I do not like to leave my bed in the mornings. The funny thing is though, if I have to get up to leave the house early to travel to a different place, I actually love the drive. Everything is so clean and the sea sparkling and the beautiful beaches and greenery. I really enjoy it and say that I should get up earlier to see the world looking so beautiful. But I don't. I stay in bed for as long as I can every morning. I rush around like a mad ant trying to get ready for work. It is really crazy. I need my 2 cups of coffee to get revved up for the day. And I hate peole calling my phone so early. Blessings

I wake up around 7:30-7:45 AM for work. I don't usually use an alarm clock I am pretty good about just knowing. Im not exact but I usually wake up at say 7:15 or 7:00. Sometimes though if I stayed up later than usual then I will get up late, too late to take a bath before work which I hate. I usually try to get to bed by 11 PM and no later than midnight.

I'm pretty good at getting up in the morning, even though I don't enjoy it. I have to get up pretty early in order to get my son up and ready for school so I'm pretty used to it now. My alarm goes off and I get up straight away. If I didn't, I'd risk waking the little one.

I am the absolute worst at getting up in the morning. I don't hear the alarm clock going off, my husband always has to wake me up. I think because I know he will wake me up then I shut out the alarm. When any of the kids get up in the night or call for me...I automatically hear them. Maybe women have selective hearing also?!?!

We must. I hear my kids most of the time too, well 2 of them sleep in our room still, since I have 5 kids in a 3 bedroom house, and I worry about the toddler on the stairs. But if either of them wake up I can hear them.

I am so not a morning person, I stay in the bed and try to sleep as long as I can. I can't stand to wake up on time. But I guess thats what I get for staying up all night. I am more of a night person. But also, I have been getting up early lately this week. Its weird for me, but good, because I get more things done when I wake up earlier.

I'm terrible about getting up, I literally hit the snooze button four times. I have barely enough time in the mornings to get ready and get out the door without being late for work. On the weekends I can sleep till noon if left alone but I try to get up earlier so I don't waste that precious time off (we'll even call that a New Years' resolution for the heck of it). Sometimes I'll leave my alarm set on the weekend so I wake up at the regular time, have a quick pee, and then get to go back to sleep. It sounds silly but it's such a treat!

I hate getting up in the morning. I will keep hitting the snooze button for an hour sometimes. I'm such a night person for some reason. I've always been this way. On the weekends, if my husband doesn't wake me up, I will stay in bed until 3 or 4 PM. I will sleep for hours and hours if no one bothers me.

All those years working for the US government I had to get up at 4 AM before the sun came up and often going home after the sun went down. There were a lot of days when i did not see much of the sun at all. Now I have retired and get up about 9 or 930 in the morning a lot of days. I like to sleep late now.

I guess 9 or 9:30 is sleeping late when you're used to getting up at 4, but for me, that's not sleeping late, lol. 10 or 11 would be sleeping late for me.

I envy you, you seem to like to sleep, and enjoy it. I am a very early riser (I get up any time between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m). I set my alarm to 5:20, because that's when I HAVE to get up in order to wake up everybody else in the house, including my two boys. But I hardly ever get to that point, I wake up on my own. I keep the alarm on, though, as not to forget, while I'm at myLot, for example, to wake the rest of the gang.

Im alone here with my 3 cats. I usually get up early. Even when i dont go anywhere. The cats have long ago broken the snooze alarm. Really the whole button is missing. If i need to snooze i have to reset for later time.

Hey kats! I was always awake long before the alarms used to go off! In fact I was always up way too soon! And then I would be so tired and really not want to get out of bed! I always had trouble sleeping and would watch the clock most nights knowing that I had to get up early to go to work and that would only make matters much worse! Now that I am not working I stay up very late because I don't have to get up unless I have an appointment that is early like today. So I just stay up until I feel like going to sleep and sleep until I feel like getting up! I have no one to answer to on the days when I have no appointments and I can make my own schedule! It's nice to finally be able to do this after so many years of having to get up with very little sleep and work all day and be exhausted all day!

That must be such a nice feeling. I remember days like that when I was younger, and I always took advantage of being able to sleep. I can't anymore because of the kids.

I don't usually mind getting up as I am at my best in the mornings and I am generally out of bed before dawn unless I have had a few late nights and I feel really tired; it's during those times that I will still get up early if I have to get my daughter off to school but I will probably be grumpy!

i am always late for my class, many gays recognize me just because i am late again and again, that's really bad i think.but sleep too long in the morning may make me tired all the day,so i try to get up before 8:30.
