To be a work-at-home mom

I just started looking for work that I could do at home. I want to do this because the plan that my husband and I have is that I could work at home while we are raising the kids. We will be moving out of state soon and I would like to get grounded in a work-at-home position so that when we move I won't have to worry about finding a job and putting our future children in a daycare. My son used to have his aunt watch him when I was going to school to finish up college and had a part-time job. But now his aunt works as a TSA agent and we have no one that we can trust to watch our future children, especially when we move because there is no family out there. I just contacted a company about doing sales calls and they told me that I did not have the experience. I am so experienced in so many other things but the cards are not working for me. I can do graphic design, have a website up but I don't have any clients at all! I'm about to start making up projects just to keep my designs up-to-date, but the sad part about graphic design is when you have no income generating from your business you can not buy the latest products such as CS4. So I thought well maybe I will just try sales, but you need experience for that. Does anyone else have these kinds of dilemmas when trying to start working from home.

I am a mom and a wife and I have no work but taking care of my baby and mylotting. I wish I could get back to a real job because it is very hard to earn money here and it really takes a long time and long patience to earn 10 bucks. Anyway I wish we could hire a babysitter as soon as possible because we really need extra income for the baby. I wish I could have a work that would pay a salary similar to salaries I could earn if I work in a company. An income of $250.00 per month will do for me and I will be contented with that because I could take care of my son at the same time.

I agree. I would like to find something that is almost the amount I am making. I would be fine with $1,500 a month living here in Los Angeles. But when we move to Charlotte, I would be okay to make $1,000 a month and get rid of my car that I am paying a monthly note on and get a car that is paid flat out and is big enough for the rest of the kids that we are planning to have.

Well, I understand your dilemma, and while I have no idea how to make use of your particular skill set, you COULD try babysitting/nannying - at least as a means to save up to start a business that DOES utilize your skills. Some families will not want to hire you because you do have your own child to care for as well, but other families will love that they can get both interaction with another child AND more personalized care. It CAN take a while to find a good match, but it's worth it. I found a wonderful family to nanny for, and the are great about my kids coming along, and in fact love that their son gets to be around other children. So I get to be with my kids, help another family, AND make some extra money, which is nice. I don't know if it would work for you, but it might be a good place to start, since at the very least you would be able to save up for any start-up costs you'll have. Good luck!
