recently at my high school there was a stabbing. a 14 yr old boy walked into the school and stabbed a girl in the throat. while we were in different rooms this girl was bleeding so bad a teacher had to hold her throat to stop the bleeding until the ambulance got there. the boy ran and was caught shortly after. apparently there were co-conspiritors that were never caught. she was rushed into the hospital and now shes back in school doing ok. this was last semester. this semester just started yesterday, but today we were evacuated. there was a bomb threat. a specific time and a specific date that this bomb would go off. this is one of my worst fears, being in school and having something happen...with my sister across the school and gun shots. not knowing where my sister is or if shes ok scares me very much. i have dreams of this happening. its a very scary thought. what is this world coming to? why arent we safe in school anymore? is it ok to be scared to go to school everyday?

This is exactly why homeschooling is becoming more popular. My son homeschools his three kids. We have talked about it and with the violence that has erupted in the schools now adays he doesn't feel safe sending his kids to school. That is not the only reason he homeschools but that is one of the big reasons. It is a shame that a parent has to be afraid to send their child to school for fear of the kind of violance that has been happening in the schools today. With the violance in the schools it is understandable that a child would be afraid to go to school. I am not sure how to answer the why schools are no longer safe.
