Do you prefer having chocolate while you are stressed out or happy?

Whenever I'm stressed I tend to consume more chocolate. Chocolate makes me happy & I forget all my worries for couple of hours. Ironically, whenever I'm happy I don't eat chocolate that much. I find it very weird! Don't you!

I usually eat more chocolate when I am stressed. Unlike you though I also eat chocolate when I am very happy, or have acomplished what had me so stressed.

Hehe I actually experience the same thing! I guess it has something to do with the ingredients of chocolates that triggers the feeling of happiness and being loved. I don't really look for chocolates when I am relaxed or happy. But when I am stressed or tired from work, I always crave for ice cream or chocolates. I think that is how they got the name "comfort foods" because they make you feel better after you eat them.

I like chocolate when I'm happy - probably because I burn it better since I'm more giddy. And I don't like food much when I'm not in the mood - I guess that's a good thing because then I don't tend to rely on comfort food :P Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I try not to eat too much when stressed. Bad for the waistline. And I have a small problem in that area. Scientists have been working on finding specific chemicals and chemical combinations which may explain some of the pleasurable effects of consuming chocolate. Anandamide, has been found in chocolate. Some say it gives us a high, happy feeling. Our bodies make that naturally. that may be why we get the good feeling that chocolate consumption provides.

Well,we all love sweets(excluding a few weirdos) and eating chocolate makes you happy because it contains phenylephylamine - the same hormone the brain triggers when you fall in love IIt's not that weird,I guess you don't need any more stimulation when you already feel great. Now,you'd be in trouble if you were trying to make yourself happy by eating anything,we already have a very high rate of obesity
