Hot or cold

Today after grocery shopping my grandson took me out to lunch. He decided we should do Mexican. so we did. We gave out order and Part of my order was salad with lettuce tomatoes and avocado. But when the waiter brought the salad he was carrying it with one of those oven gloves so for a minute I'm thinking the plate is hot. so I very carefully touched it to replace it where I wanted it. I looked at my grandson and burst out laughing because the plate is cold as it should be for a salad. Any way I'm laughing because he's telling me to be careful because it's hot. Have you had a cold plat delivered to your table by a waiter with an oven mitt and the plate cold?

It was funny because it was a cold plate and my grandson told me to be careful because it was hot. A green salad would be very wilted if served on a hot plate.

That's too funny! Sounds like the waitor was having a very busy day! LOL I don't really blame him for keeping the oven mit on. Some of those dishes are blazin' hot when they bring them to you! I've had to tap mine around to get it where I want it sometimes! LOL

Well, the place wasn't very busy. In fact it was almost empty when we went in for lunch. I was going use a napkin but as I decided to test it first I found out it was cold. They do serve most of the dishes hot. When the hot plates came to the table they looked like the food was cooked on them. It just struck me as funny. A cold dish and an oven mitt.

No I never had that. Usually cold plates are served cold in my country. I was served chinese cuisine plates hot on an oven mitt. I find it very odd that a cold salad is served hot. I think different places have different cuisine traditions.

Hello ronald. I think that you misunderstood. The salad was cold served on a cold plate but the waiter brought it to me with an oven mitt or pot holder on the hand he was carrying the salad plate with. That is what struck me as being funny. Much of the food that is served in the cafe is brought out on very hot plates.

Yes he thought it was funny too after I explained it to him. The place wasn't very busy at all. It was almost empty. He may just put the oven mitt on to take all the dishes out just to be safe.

I hope that you get to have your grandson take you to lunch too some time. I think your right the waiter is in the habit of just carrying all the plates with an oven mitt. but it just struck me as funny at the time.

That's hilarious! Did the waiter say the plate was hot? Or your grandson? Either way, very funny! But even more hilarious if the waiter said it! Maybe he had a long day!

Now thats a thought except it hasn't been very cold here unless it's because he comes from much further south than we are.

I have never noticed that before. We have had a waiter bring food to our table, but the plate was hot when he was wearing an oven mitt.

LOL I haven't had that happening to me yet, but the day is young heheheh I guess the waiter is so used to pick up the very hot plates that he doesn't take the glove off regardless of how misleading that will be for the ones receiving their salads that way LOL

I have to admit this is hilarious story, deebomb! And no, it never happened to me. My first thought would be: where is the hidden camera??? After watching on tv so many people being played tricks on, I'd expect a crew with camera and microphones come out... So you had unforgettable time and you'll remember that for ever. I'll remember that too when I'll be eating out next time.
