Hi there! It has been awhile since I started my own discussion and I am so excited now to share my happiness with all of you especially to those friends I have made here. This morning, I felt sadder and more depressed because I was thinking of how I can earn some cash for so long now. I have tried so many ventures but nothing really worked out. I have so much time in my hands that being idle is not my style. As I was doing some gardening this morning, I was praying for some help on how to be self sufficient, how I can earn and how I can contribute to the family income..then an idea popped into my head. Oh boy, I was given an inspiration and the courage to start a business here in my area which sells used clothes and bags for a very low price of course. I have seen other people doing this for a few years now and they are doing well. And people here are buying those used stuffs because they are very cheap. The used clothings sold are not really worn out and because of our poor economy, people are patronizing businesses like this. So, I called a friend from abroad and she liked the idea. We are going to be partners and she is going to send me a few boxes of used items for a start. I told her that I wanted her to make an inventory of all the things she will send me and will be discussing more of the details through email today such as the pricing and the shipping. Oh gosh, I am so excited and happy. I wanted this to work out and I pray it will. I want this to succeed and I want my friend to be happy with the outcome of her trusting me in our new business venture. Oh, please include me in your prayers that I will be guided throughout this new venture of mine. Thanks for the support my mylot friends!

Hi eaforeman6! Oh that is very kind of you, thanks dear! I don't have a web site for this kind of business yet. I will directly do the selling to friends and acquaintances and at the same time will be supplying my items to an acquaintance of mine who has already a shop. Thanks again for the support and I do wish you the best in everything too! Thank you for dropping by in this discussion, I really appreciate it. Take care and blessings to you always! lovelots..faith

Hi Rose08! Thanks dear for the support. I am really wanting to start a new business that can help the family's income and I am really hoping and praying that this one will work out just fine. But if it won't, I believe that there will be other opportunities. I am still waiting for the items to be shipped out to me at this time and hoping that we can start selling next month. Again thank you so much for dropping by and giving me encouragement, it meant a lot to me. Take care and keep smiling! lovelots..faith210

I am very happy for you Faith ;your diligence would definitely pay.But , be careful to keep it small till you get a complete hang of the market and firm commitments from these shopkeepers.Within the first few months you would well be established I am sure.WHo knows, one day, this will grow to a fairly big one ! I wish you once again that you succeed and all the best! I know how exciting it is to see your small venture grow slowly.I started with teaching one student, but word of mouth gave me groups and groups of students [I never sought employment and did this only at home on a private tuition basis]and on one fine day[the most memorable in mycareer]I just got an invitation out of the blue , from my former college to be the chief guest in Alumni meeting Ill never forget this ,my students and the great time I had as my own master. But keep time to chat with us even when your business gets bigger

Hi kalav dear! Thank you! I really appreciate the support of friends especially yours. It is nice to know that almost all my friends here are behind me and wishing me luck and blessings in this venture of mine. Actually, my two boxes of used clothes and bags have already arrived and have sold them in bulk to wholesalers who have stores of their own and are regular participants of bazaars in our area. I sold all the clothes but have left a few bags because I promised some people that I will sell the bags to them. These acquaintances of mine have picked up the bags already and will pay me within one month. The clothes were all paid up to me already. It run smoothly and I have already sent total cost of the items to my partner abroad and together with the cost, I also send half of the profit we made. This initial venture we had was a success and we are planning to double up the inventory this second time. Hopefully, it will be the same. Again, thank you my friend for the kind words. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

The best advice that I can give you is to trust God and do not talk yourself out of it, before trying. I do this an awful lot. Congratulations and I wish you much success. Keep us posted on how things are going. One question though, do you need a business license to do that? I am thinking that you have given me a good way to make extra money. I have soooooo many used clothes and items that are nice. I save them hoping to find someone who can use them. I come across an amazing amount of things every month in this place where I live.

Hi Rozie dear! Here in my place, I wouldn't be needing a business license since I my capital is very small at the moment. And so I will be exempted in paying business permit license. I only have to get permission from a local official to operate in my home and will pay a small tax at the municipal office. Thank you for your kind words and I do agree with your advice. In God I Truly Trust! Thank you dear friend for your support, it meant so much to me. Thanks. Take care and have a nice day! God bless your kind heart! lovelots..faith210

I am so very happy for you.. There is nothing so sad as wanting to work but not being able to.. It is hard work but it can be done.. I do a lot of flea markets, since my husband and I are retired and he is disabled, this gives us a bit of extra income to help make ends meet.. I have bought almost new clothing at yard sales and sold them for a bit of a profit and the person buying the clothing got a great deal.. I also used to sell on ebay and I always made good money on anything that had to do with Harley-Davidson, and anything that had to do with little girls fancy dresses... It is fun and I enjoy doing it.. I used to have a small thrift store but couldn't make a go of it due to the location, but I have a bad habit of trying to rescue thigs that are still good but maybe in need of a good cleaning, or a button replaced or a seam sewn.. I enjoy this type of work and it is hard work.. I will say a prayer for you and keep my fingers crossed also.. Keep us informed on your venture and I hope you make millions.. Good Luck..

Hi Donna! Yes, that is very true..nothing is more sad as wanting to work but not being able to. I am just so happy that I have this opportunity now and hoping and praying that it will work out just fine. I am not afraid of hard work for I am used to it. I love working and had my own retail business years before but due to high cost of maintaining stores, such as the rentals and all the expenses, I have to close down. Now, I am going to be a supplier of thrift shops, sell directly to friends and some friends/acquaintances of my friends and will sell right in our yard. This way I can cut down on cost of maintaining a store. Thank you dear friend for the encouraging words and prayers and have the same wish and prayers for you to succeed as well in yours. I really appreciate your kindness and will keep you informed of the developments. I can't explain my happiness right now as if I was given a new hope and I thank you for sharing my happiness. Take care dear Donna! Have a beautiful day! lovelots..faith210

Hi dear friend! Sorry for the late response. I have so many email notifications piled up and it is taking me longer than usual to catch up. haha..I am glad that everything is alright somehow in your place. Yes, let us always unite our prayers. I do believe in the power of prayers. With regards to the business, my two boxes of used clothing and bags arrived last 20th of this month and two businesswoman (friends of my aunt) who are into the same kind of business bought everything in bulk because they are regular participants in a local "tiangge" or bazaar here in our area. However, I took a few bags because I promised those bags that I will sell them to some people I knew. They already got them and will pay me within a month. haha..This first try was easy and went smooth sailing maybe because before the goods arrived, I have already contacted several people who I know will be very interested. I did earn a few profit and have divided it with my partner in the States. Have sent the money already through the bank this morning and she told me that she will check it in her bank tomorrow. I was glad that it went well. lovelots..faith

So how's your business now? Anyway thanks for the concern, with God's help we are better now in our place, I mean those who are affected of the flood since we are fortunate enough to have settled in a place here in Cagayan de oro that is elevated. Though everytime we experience heavy rain I am also afraid that the same thing will happen again but I think with our prayers and your prayers out there, God will not allow that to happen again in the future.

Hi faith, I’m so glad to know that you have launched a new business by selling used clothes and bags with reasonable price. This is such a good idea to make use of these still usable and unworn out used stuffs. This really could supply useful used stuffs for those low income people. What’s more you have got a good business companion from abroad to support and to assist you a lot in this. So I believe you surely can manage to operate your business well. From my own and some of my friends’ experience, I know sometime we are not happy and satisfied with the brand new clothes, bags and shoes which have bought and just keep them in the wardrobe, might be we feel rather uncomfortable or uneasy to put them on, or they look rather weird to match us . We don’t have such selling old stuffs outlet here yet and what we could do with these old stuffs is to donate them to the charity organization here to help the poor only. So the low income families still couldn't have way to get any good quality used stuffs with lower price in the market here yet. Hopefully to see you to have great success in this new business in this brand new year of 2009, and wish you all the best!

Yeah, we got a good market for them in India too. The only sad thing about it is that I heard that those used clothes comes from rich countries, where ppl donate them for poors, and they are supposed to be distriubuted to the needy ones for free:( Anyways, someone's loss is someone's gain, thats how it goes ! All the best for for everything that you attempt in life !

Hi msbawangada! Probably, that is true but the used stuffs I will be getting will come from friends and acquaintances who will be selling their used items at a very low rate to us and in turn I could sell them at a low price too. I have seen other stuffs like this from other shops and I have seen a lot that are really worn out and that is what I wouldn't want to sell. I would be a little choosy in the stuffs I am going to buy and sell. I have already said this to my business partner who will be the one in charge in getting the stuffs for me and we are in agreement with this. I know it is not that easy but I am willing to push myself much more harder this time. Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement, I really appreciate it. My first stuffs will be shipped out to me within two weeks time since my partner will be just starting tomorrow in gathering and buying all the stuffs I have listed down to her just this afternoon. We have been in constant communication the whole day. So my time frame is a maximum of 14 days at her end in acquiring all the stuffs and another 30 days for shipping those items to me. Hi, faith210! First i would like to congratulate you for being persistent to come up with an idea on how to earn money. By not giving up on your dream to have your own business, it's a good sign that you can become a successful intrepreneur. Just don't quit!Second, you may also want to consider a network marketing business to leverage your time in earning extra cash. Surely, there's is no such thing as easy money, something for nothing, so be careful in chosing a network marketing business. Lastly, if you haven't read them before, i recommend that you read Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and Napolean Hill's "Think and Grow Rich". Good luck on your new business venture.

Hey that is great to hear I do hope that you will so splendidly in your new adventure of starting a business. Of course I will keep you in my prayers. In these days and times it is hard to buy the new clothes in a low budget barely enough for bills to buy new clothes so it is great that you are starting this business to give others a chance to stretch their dollars and get what they need.. So lots of luck and best wishes to you.

Hi polachicago! Thanks for sharing my happiness dear friend! I am not going to open a new store but instead will be a supplier to people I knew who are in this kind of business. I have already talked to them and they are willing to buy from my used goods and whatever is left, I will be selling in our front yard. I have already talked with local officials here in our neighborhood and I was allowed to sell the stuffs twice a week. This means I won't be paying any rent and because my start up capital is very small, I will be exempted from taxes. I am just starting small and from there, I will build the business and hopefully I will make it. Thank you for the support and encouraging words my friend. Do you have a proper business plan? If you want to have a successful business you need a plan. It's not enough to get an idea and jump in the deep end. Will you rent a store? Where will the money come from? What about permission to operate a business? What about the health aspects of selling used clothes? Where will you get your stock besides your friend? If the economy is so poor, good, pre-loved clothing may be hard to find. If you have a lease on your shop and no stock to sell you will not be able to pay rent or wages. I'm not trying to be negative...I'm trying to help you to be aware that running as business can be very difficult and very stressful. You will also need a bundle of cash to start up.

Hi Ms Tickle! Oh that is alright. You are not being negative, you are just giving me good advice. I do have plans and have talked to people who I knew who are in this kind of business and have advised me on the steps I will have to take. I won't be renting a shop, I will be just supplying those people who have existing shops and are already willing to help me have a good start. The money will come from my own savings. I am starting small. And my friend will be the one in charge in sending me the items and I will be in charge of selling and marketing the items here. And I have back up plans if my friend's supply ran out. Thank you for the advice and I do appreciate that you have pointed them all out to me. that a good idea esp in a time like this and most businesses find it hard to survive and people are turning into used or 2nd hand market and i think it will works. I think you should be familiar with your area and the demand of the products so that would not be a major issue. the main thing is to keep your overheads low like rental (if any). In china, i see some couples going around selling clothings in their car boot and the business is good. they would sell at community focus area like near to supermart, mall etc and many would stop by to take a look. my wife brought some scarfs from them recently too so i think your idea will sell.
