Dexter Married His Sister

Dexter Married His Sister - Michael C. Hall married his on show sister Jennifer Carpenter on New Year's Eve. They make a cute couple, but I think I'd feel weird marrying my brother!!!

http://www.etonline.com/news/2009/01/69538 Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, who play brother and sister on "Dexter," were married on New Year's Eve. I've never seen this show but I think it would feel strange to be brother & sister on TV & married in real life!!! OK, all my Dexter friends, what do you think about Dexter marrying his sister???

It seems creepy and wrong, even though I know they aren't really related. Plus, I just can't picture him with her after seeing him with the blonde who portrays his fiancee. Although, Lila was a brunette. Look how that turned out though. I suppose as an actor, it is essential to be able to separate fact and fiction, make believe and reality. I wish them all the happiness in the world.

Thanks for best response. It seems like people who fall in love on the set of a movie or tv show don't last much longer that the shoot or show.

You are correct!!! Sadly the marriage is over now (about 2 years) & the show is going into Season 6. I would think things would be even more strange now than it was when they married!!!

I, too, wish them ALL the happiness life has to offer & hopefully MORE than one or two years!!! I'm pretty open minded, but for whatever reason, this news left me feeling a little creeped out!!! Yes, actors should know fact from fiction. However, look at all the Hollywood couples that have developed from costarring in a movie. I believe it is Angelina Jolie who falls in love with practically every one of her costars. Ted Dansen & Mary Steinburgen are another example. They have managed to stay together for quite some time now. I do hope Michael & Jennifer have a long & happy life together!!!

LadyM. You watch far too much TV!! I have never heard of half these shows, almost all actually. When do you get the time to watch them all? OK. I shall get back in the corner now!

STAY IN THE CORNER!!! and do NOT come out!!! I have NEVER watched Dexter but know a lot of myLotters adore this show. I ran into this story quite by chance. The thought of being brother & sister by day then husband & wife at night sounded a little strange...even for me, so I was interested in what the Dexterites thought about it. While on myLot I usually have music playing. When the music goes off, the TV goes on. I'm seldom watching it but it is great background noise. I pick up a lot of useless information that way!!! Knowledge is the key to life. I don't tell you where to get yours. You should just accept where I get mine!!! Capish???

OK OK. I am guilty of not reading the discussion and jumping to assumptions. I am sorry. Don't know what made me respond without reading. I hate that and am caustic when it happens to me. I am now heading back to the corner. Any chance of a little forgiveness. This rice I'm kneeling on, and the humble pie I am eating have done their job. Promise.

As pointed out below...they are getting a divorce after 2 years of bliss. It will be interesting to see if they can pull off the divorce without making it look weird on the show!!! Sometimes editing is EVERYTHING!!!!

I've never even watched Dexter. Every time I try, something happens. I've heard from many that it is a really good show.

I was just telling Boyfriend last night about Dexter dating his "sister". Yes, I sometimes worry about how knowledgeable I am about TV's current events. We were watching the first episode of Californication and Showtime had a preview for all their shows. And now they are married!!! Well, good for them. I don't know both of them but I guess it is nothing but two co-workers falling in love and getting married.

I have NO problem with coworkers dating. I just find it a little weird that they are brother & sister by day, then husband & wife by night. I realize most of it is fantasy. I'm just concerned that the lines between fantasy & reality might get blurred!!! I truly hope they have a very happy marriage.

I dont see anything wrong with it, it would seem nice to go to work with your partner everyday, would be awesome. They are true professionals.

I worked with my partner at one point in time & the word "nice" NEVER came to mind!!!! It appears that being married for Dexter & his sister helped to put a strain on their marriage too as it's only been 2 years & they are already divorcing. I do believe that the report said they had been separated for some time now. I have found it s rare few who can actually work together all day & not have some problems spill over into their private life!!!

OH MY!!! i never heard of the news about them dating. they did their roles very well. i thought it was his love interest in the series he is dating because they look good together and they act naturally.. at least there was no scene where michael and her leading lady was making love and been caught by jen. i wish them luck! i hope it wont have bad effect in the series. my spouse and i love this show so much!! we even bought a DVD so we can watch it over and over again!

Dang... that'll be hard to work along in a professional scene. At least they look good together on tv as siblings. But since they're good in acting, I say they got no problem working. Hope season four keeps up the good work!

Haha! I didn't know that, but that is pretty weird! And it would be strange working with your spouse on a show as their sibling. Especially with all the intimate scenes on the show.... XD I suppose that's the folly of being an actor/actress, though.

I don't think it's weird. I mean lots people date the people they work with. They jut happen to be actors. I think it would be much, much stranger to be siblings in real life but play a married couple on tv.

I think its fabulous! They obviously have great chemistry on screen even though they play brother and sister. Besides, they are only foster brother and sister in the tv show, so far at least, and in the novels. I don't understand why people find it weird for them to go to work. He is playing a serial killer and that certainly doesn't carry through to real life.

I've never seen that show. I just know a lot of people here love it. I worked at one place where my husband worked. It was a royal pain in the azz!!! I just would think it a little weird to have a brother/sister relationship during the day & then go home to a husband/wife relationship at night. Only to wake up to be brother/sister again. I'm sure as actors they'll find a way to work it out. I just wouldn't want to be in that position!!!

Somehow it is really an awkward moment. They are brother and sister in the series but couple in real life. But recently they just files a divorce. That is just so sad, they look good together.
