Bruschi has one more year on his contract. Even with the injuries that he took on this season and the fact that he isn't getting any younger, it looks like he is planning to return next season to finish out his contract. There is no doubt that the Patriots need to shore up their defensive core. They have some older players and they have really taken a beating over the last few years. The fact that they had to call Junior Seau out of retirement mid-season speaks volumes of their condition on defense. Bruschi is certainly a force on defense even when he isn't on the field. His experience is a great boost to the team, being able to mentor the younger players and such. I think just the inspiration he offers having rebounded from the stroke a couple years ago to still be a notable part of the team is amazing. I would be really sad to see him go, so I am thrilled that he is currently planning to return next season.

Hooray for Tedy Bruschi! He's not the same MLB after that stroke, and I will not blame him for that. He still commands respect from his team mates, and he plays a big role mentoring the young guys in that defense. If next year will be his last, so be it. He may not be the best MLB around, but for Patriots fans out there he probably is.

I am thrilled to have him back with the Patriots for another season! You are right, though. He is not quite the same.
