Biggest moon of 2009

Has anyone had the pleasure of seeing tonight's moon? It is supposed to be the biggest and brightest in 2009. If it's not cloudy where you are, take a look. Makes me realize that if we're all looking at the same time, we really aren't so far apart, are we?

Thanks so much! She's going to be 10 yo in March! There's a few more pics of her in my profile, along with the other members of the zoo...lol. One thing nice about chihuahuas...no one can sneak into the house and you sure don't need a doorbell..lol.

I'm sorry to hear that. Oh well, I'm enough of a star gazer for both of us. Next time I'll try to give a bit more notice. If you work nights, you must see some really pretty sunrises to make up for it!

I need my eyes checked. I swear I had to look at the title of your discussion three times before I saw it said Biggest Moon of 2009, and not Biggest Mom of 2009.

LOL!!! Thanks so much, I needed something funny today! Although traditionally the moon, Luna, is thought of as female so it could be the biggest mom too!

Yah, I seen it..But I just don't know if I could say it is the biggest I've seen. Have you ever seen the moon when it is really big and a burnt orange. Now that is a sight...

It was pretty big tonight when it was just cresting the horizon. It wasn't that lovely burnt orange though (that's my favorite color). I have seen those really big orange ones, usually in July, August and early September when it's still warm and humid. They are an awesome sight too!

I did see the full moon last night. It was gorgeous. I did not know that it was suppose to be the biggest and brightest in 2009. Wow, glad I saw it. I love full moons! I love to watch the sun rise too. At one with nature!

It was bigger than normal as is was closer to the earth in it's orbit, plus it was a full moon as well. For brightness, at night with a full moon and no lights on in my house, I can normalle see enough to be able to walk around without tripping on anything. When it was full four days ago, if I sat near the window I was able to read. For a couple of nights I kep waking up thinking that somebody left a porch light on. Sorry you missed it, but if you saw if for a couple of days before and after, it was still pretty good.

Yes. I saw the moon last night when I went out walking. It was so round and bright. The weather has been fine here in my place for nearly three months. I look forward to snow. It hasn't snowed this winter. I like to see such a beautiful moon after snow.

That would indeed be spectacular to see, the toight's moon shining on snow. Would make everything around seem to glow, and be such a lovely image. Hope you continue to have good weather, when do you normally start getting snow? Thanks for responding!

I like looking at the moon but I like moonless nights too when I can see the stars. I have the strange feeling that home is out there. Cheers!!

I love watching the stars too. It seems like whenever we're supposed to have a meteor shower it's cloudy here. But every so often on a moonless night I see one anyway. It's like a little gift, isn't it? When you are feeling like home is out there, maybe your thoughts are connecting with some one light years away thinking the same thing. Cheers back at you!

Hope you get a break in the clouds, or maybe clear skies tomorrow. Between looking out our windows and seeing the same moon, and being so close electronically, it really is a global neighborhood.
