Hi fellow mylotters, my husband recently celebrated his 36 year employment anniversary. I admire that, the longest time I was at a job/company was six years, I was an HR assistant and had worked my way up from a receptionist position. My husband is a printer for a major worldwide printing firm and is very good at his job, he has practically grown up in this company, driving the same route, entering the same doors, working the same schedule for this past 36 years, kudos to my husband. So how about you my friend, was has been the longest time you have been at the same place of employment and what type of company, work do you do? Happy Posting! oohcute2340

In March I will have been here for 8 years, working up from receptionist to controller. I love my job and while sometimes I feel like a change would do me good I have to say that stability means more to me. My fiance just started an actual career a few months ago after finally figuring out what he wants to be when he grows up so hopefully he'll be celebrating many anniversaries with this company!

Eights years is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations on working your way up the ladder, sometimes that is the very best way to be really good at the position you finally settle in, and respect from bosses and co-workers. Be happy, be joyful, be safe, be strong! oohcute2340

The longest employment for me was for five years, that was with British Telecom working as an operator, I actually enjoyed it but I was young enough to take voluntary redundancy, they are a very good company to work for but now they are resourcing their call centres to India. I made some great friends there and the money was extremely good, it was definitely 5 enjoyable years there.

Oh I don't consider a housewife being unemployed, it is one of the most demanding and rewarding careers one can have and takes many different skills and talents to do and do well. Congrats to your husband on his job of 18 years, best wishes to both of you in 2009! Be happy, Be joyful, Be safe and Be strong! oohcute2340

The longest time of employment I've ever had has been about eleven months now. It'll be like a year by next month and I should be getting my one year bonus which will be pretty cool. My other places of employment didn't last very long my first only being about three months and my second about the same.

The longest employment which I have ever had was in a travel and tour agency. I worked there for nearly four years and the experience was nearly great. Working in a travel agency is wonderful, as there is good salary and perks. It also invloves lot of communication with different sorts of people and also professional tours are possible.

My longest time of employment is of ten years, and still have to work much more years too. Well it is true that you have the same job and shedule for years, however having a secure job nowadays is blessing, since there is a big problem in finiding work.

The longest for me was only 6 months. I was really enjoying it too when I had to move away. The owner wanted workers that lived close by and since I moved to a different city I was the one to be let go. The funny thing is I never officially got fired, nor did I give my notice. And when I first moved I would call up my work place and they'd give me some hours to work. LOL But eventually I quit calling... I got another job sometime later, but I had to quit this one soon after as I became pregnant with my first born. As I was taking care of animals it as recommended by my boss. I didn't want to quit, but I didn't want to risk the health of my baby either so after talking it over with my husband we agreed that I should quit. That was 12 years ago. I've been a stay at home mom ever since.
