Ok, so we all know that a lot of people copy reviews from different sites, and then simply paste them in Ciao. But what I just experienced is ridiculous! Not one, but THREE people, copied my "Beowulf & Grendel" review from Ciao, and pasted into... well, Ciao! Are you freaking kidding me?! They didn't even take the time to change the advantages and disadvantages, to at least hide it a bit better. How stupid can you get?, this is just hilarious. Now I'll have to find out how to report such things, I really never thought this would happen to me. Has anyone else here experienced such an idiotic behavior at Ciao? I seriously can't stop laughing. Rich

With idiots at Ciao no because I have had enough seeing idiots here on myLot without looking for them elsewhere. I guess their actions were the cause of the recent changes on Ciao and probably on CBU too. Hopefully myLot can stay on top and weed them out before they do any damage here!

I do not blame the site as it is their right to change the TOS but having to change it due to some idiots who do not play fair is not right!

I my self have not but a friend of mine did. This guy copied her review about the problem with Ciao and the bad reviews that are in it etc. Giving advice to never copy anothers review and the guy actually copied it and then claimed it as his own. Need less to say it was a Ciao Lynching in the comment section of his review. LOL. So many had left comments stating that it was a ccopied review even siting the original writer in the comments. Not to mention the original writer sent him a comment as well. She also reported him to Ciao Iam not sure what all has happened but yes it does happen and yes people are so stupid about it. I cant believe that some one let alone 3 would stoop to that level.

yes that would be the same one. And you are so right she is well respected in the Ciao Community. I cant believe that someone would stoop to that level. Well good luck with all that you do.

I think I know who your friend is, did she send PMs titled "A CHEATER!!!!" when this happened? If so, I just found it under a ton of spam and replied to her. Too bad I missed the lynching, because if we're talking about the same lady, she's probably the most respectable user in Ciao. You know, between reporting abuses, and deleting the spam from my inbox, I think I wont have enough time to write reviews or rate them. This is getting ridiculous. Rich

Just email Ciao and they really will sort these people out and ban them. They even banned me for copying "My Own" piece of associated content, but thankfully I proved this to them that I owned it and they let me back on. It really is awful that people do not have a brain to try and write something down. I see badly written reviews on Ciao, but at lrast those people really are trying and I respect them for it. I hope you get them sorted out. Ciao will certainly deal with the "three" of them.

No. I've never experience anything like that on Ciao—but then again, I've never written anything worth copying.

You think that's funny? My review of "How to Murder Your Wife" has been copied and pasted no less than NINE times by NINE different id's! Amazing. Should I be flattered? I'm not but the stupidest thing about it is that they've just copied and pasted without any form of formatting so it just looks a mess. At least anyone with any sense will see that my review was up there first (in case anyone tries to accuse ME of copying as opposed to the actual copiers)! In one case there was a film review, can't recall the name which was up over 50 times by more than 50 separate members - this is a new form of abuse but Ciao is all over it. The culprits won't be getting away with it by any means...

Yeah, I just received an e-mail from them, they say these abusers are banned members who are spamming the site with thousands of fake accounts. I guess it's just a matter of report, report and report, so they can clean up the place as soon as possible. Rich

lol at those idiots. i think you have to report about this to ciao fast else it may go against you.

Yeah, I'm on it. Too bad you need to report each one in a separate message. I don't think it would be a problem for me if I didn't report it fast, I mean, the reviews are dated, so it's easy to see which one is the original. But still, I'm reporting them asap, not only because of the cheating, but because of the stupidity! Rich

Just thought I'd point out that it won't go against you if you don't report these cheats - you can't be held accountable for others who cheat - sure Ciao is grateful for abuse reports but don't think it will affect you as a member for not reporting other cheaters - you have your own reviews to write and your own reputation to build as an active and genuine member :)

hahahaha..... what a funny one! They have probably found your review very helpful that's why they copied it thinking somehow that you will not noticed such and would rather twist that you were the one copying their review. hahaha...you really made me laugh. Yes, I do also observe these unscrupulous members in CIAO which is why CIAO is now closely monitoring every Members activity most particularly those who have violated its rules and policies to immediately opt them from the CIAO platform. Thanks for sharing

Recently, on Ciao, I came across one more case of cheating review dito. I received message from this member with the heading "Cheating' in which she had shown the link of the person who copied her review same to same. I didn't get time to open the link, but since she has complained so it must surely have been the cheating case. I don't understand why people don't use their brain when they are doing such deeds. In comments also one of the respondents had given a link of copying the review of that person. I suggest you should report about this plagiarism to the authorities.

Now, that is indeed ridiculous! Sounds similar to the fools that were copying and pasting others' responses on myLot!

Yes, you can copy and paste in myLot once you hit 500 posts It is useful when I'm starting discussions or making posts and need to re-arrange sentences or when quoting from other sources but some have abused it..

Hi Rich! You are so kind to be laughing instead of getting pissed by those people who copied your review. Well, I have not experienced that or I might probably do not know if someone copied my review. How did you knew about it by the way?

That's bad! I really think that there should be just penalty for those who do that. Anyway, I still have no time to browse others' reviews with the same product as mine.

I rather laugh than cry, if you know what I mean. I found out while checking the comments, I noticed one of the movies I reviewed had three new reviews. I went to check them out of curiosity, it's not a very popular movie, so I wanted to see what the other people thought of it. It seems to be the new scam in Ciao, after I reported those three, I went to check my other reviews. Fortunately, I don't have many, and most of the ones I have, don't have many reviews from other people. But I did find another copy from one of my reviews. Then, I went to one that actually had quite a few, above 40 or so. To my surprise, about 30 of them were copies. What trully surprised me was, that most of these copies are from new members and they are always the only review they have. I'm starting to think that these people are not doing it in order to make some quick cash, I think the idea is to spam Ciao with complaints about it. Maybe it's a form of protest because the 25 cents incentive is gone, I don't know. But all the copies I've seen are from the last 7 days or so. Rich

Maroseqf, I'm replying to your comment, but this is actually an update on the subject. Unfortunately, you can't reply to your own discussion and you can't update the original post. I was laughing at first, but this is actually BAD. Any of the Ciao members here, do a search for "The Critic - The complete Series", there's 31 reviews of it. Only three or so are originals, the rest are just copies of two of them. I didn't take the time to look into each of these users' profiles, but the ones I did, they are all new members, they copied that one review in particular and never came back. Clearly a spam attack on the site, there is no way people can use the normal means for reporting, especially when other products are having this issue too. I wrote an e-mail to Ciao, but who knows how long it'll be until they read it, IF they read it that is. We'll have to wait, but this is going to bring issues I'm sure.

Hello Richard_Uther! Well, this is very funny indeed, but also frustrating in my opinion. I did not hear about such idiotic behavior on Ciao and I am curious how did you find those copycats? I am sure that everyone is aware of the danger that lies in these ridiculous actions. P.S. LOL maybe I read those articles instead of yours ^^ (just joking) Good Luck!

A lot of members in Ciao are just plain stupid, lazy and crazy. I think this is something that Ciao should look into detail because these people are bringing the site down. I am always annoyed to hear of some reviews being copied not from outside sources but even from other members' reviews. And everyday, I am sometimes horrified reading reviews from people who never know how to use the English language -- well, sometimes I just understand these people but copying is something I could not just take into consideration. I think the day is coming when Ciao will fully police its site away from bad members.

If you believe all of them will be get banned sooner or later, therefore do not think about them just keep your reviews going the culprits will shown the exit door anytime

haha...I can't believe that some people can be that stupid..Imagine the nerve of copying and pasting on the same site!!! lol

I would laugh but unfortunately in this day and age people are looking for a fast route to make money without doing the work themselves. Having been a member of Ciao UK for a few years it has happened to me more than once and I doubt a week has gone by when it didn't happen to at least one person I knew on the site. All you can do is report them and hope that Ciao will act, which may take a couple of weeks unfortunately. On a positive note, it is in some ways a bit of flattery that someone thought that your piece of writing was good enough that they would want to copy it.

Hey, I don't really get people most of the time. I mean, how can you just go on and copy everyone elses stuff and not even change the words. Personally I don't copy other peoples stuff, but if I find something that I like I change ALL the words and re-word it! Happy Lotting!

Hello, I guess I got a guinnes record on CIAO. My first review there was copied after few hours! I found it because it was a first opinion, then checking the product i saw there was another review. I was curious to know what another people thinks about the product and... surprise! His opinion totally matched mine! Was a 1 to 1 match! I reported him to ciao writing them an email, because the abuse report form had at that time a bug: the item number field was too short to contain the whole number (i told them that, but several days after it was still bugged). The copier was banned in few hours too. So just report him, ciao team will solve the problem soon. You're right, the review have a date/time stamp, so you can wait to report, BUT! If you wait too much the copier will be able to cash the money before they ban him, so don't wait too much, if you don't want someone earn true money from your own job.
