As some of you know I've been fighting with the city electric company for the last several days trying to keep from having my electricity shut off because I got behind on my bill. I had tried all sorts of different avenues to come up with the funds to pay the bill with no luck. That is....until this morning. My phone rang around 730 am and lo and behold it was my pastor. I answered fully expecting a resounding "no I can't help you with the bill", since it is the church board's policy to do only a one time help on big bills like mine, and they had helped me last year (and I had paid it back too). But I got an ecstatically wonderful surprise...my pastor decided to help me in spite of what the board had advised! The stipulation is that I have to have them paid back by the end of the month. I am so happy and relieved! I headed straight to the church (8 miles away) and then straight back to the utility company and put that check right into their hot little hands. Whew!!! Many of you encouraged me to remember that God is watching over me, and He does take care of us. I did that, and was in prayer many many hours over the last few days. And He did take care of my needs...again (as He always does). In tough times it's hard to keep focused on the fact that He does watch over us, and I want to thank you all for keeping me from straying away from that and sinking myself into a major pit of depression. You are all awesome, wonderful friends, and I wouldn't trade any of you for the world! And to anyone that is going through the same trials and stresses, I want to encourage you to keep your chins up and pray, pray, pray. And if you don't pray, then keep your thoughts and energies focused toward the positive...things WILL work out for you some how some way. Thank you and great big warm fuzzy bear hugs to all.....Carryl

Thank you hon. I was so relieved that all I could do this afternoon was sleep since I hadn't slept too well for about a week. As a matter of fact I just got up. LOL! Hugs to you.

Thats just great that the pastor is helping you with the electric bill. I know times are super tough now for alot of us, specially the ones who have lost their jobs like my husband did back in Sept. I've literally placed our future in God's hands through prayer here at home and constantly watching for signs that he's trying his best to help guide us in the right direction. So far, our mortgage is several months behind but the bank is working with us and we are trying to come up with money to at least keep foreclosure at bay. Electric and Gas are getting paid by energy assistance so they haven't been hounding me for money and my phone bill is actually caught up which surprised the heck outta me when the bill came to my inbox and it was paid up. Now to figure out who the angel was so I could give them a huge hug in gratitude. Medical bills and credit card bills are literally on back burner and they can kiss my butt for all I care since the important bills are first and foremost.

That is so awesome that the bank is working with you on that. That has to relieve some of the stresses. And blessings to that angel that took care of your phone bill. I have several miscellaneous bills on the back burner myself. I have bill collectors calling, but I don't answer the phone. The only extra one I'm dealing with is the one for the hospital that had taken me to court, and that one is almost paid off. Yaaaayyyyy! Big hugs to you sweetie.

We are so far behind on most of the bills that they have just given up on us, I think. lol No more calls or snail mails from them or their lawyers. Our credit is shot to heck but I don't care. I am, however, keeping up on the payments to the vet being if any of my furbabies needs to go see him, he will continue putting the charges on my account long as I'm paying them the agreed amount every month. Angels are watching over us, my friend.

Isn't answered prayer a wonderful thing!!! I am truly pleased that you're now caught up till the end of the month. Having paid it back the first time is I'm sure a good reason why there wasn't much hesitation this time. I am still very taken back by the utility company there, I know for a fact they won't cut you off here and also I have been behind many many times in fact every winter for the last four years. This is the first winter where I have been able to pay in full, and there was never a problem I simply said I will pay as much as I possibly can but I only have so many dollars to share between power, gas, water and telephone and everyone was good with that. Mind you again I did pay it up. That should be all that matters in difficult times.

Thank you so much hon. I don't know what the deal is with this company but they need to get their heads out of their behinds and get thing straightened out law wise. There has got to be some way to get someone to look into it, and I hope I can find that someone. I guess I'm going to have to actually STICK to my New Year's resolution to stay caught up on my bills now to avoid this type of situation again. LOL! Hugs to you hon.

WOO-HOO, hunny! Glad it worked out for you... being without power is awful, no matter where you live. Our utility company actually has funds for elderly and low-income... we all add an extra $1 or 5 to our payments a few times a year and it really adds up. One year, there was a surplus, so our donations were much smaller. It seems to be a very workable system. I'm dancin' with you... hugs!!

You're a lucky lady and I can feel your joy. Hope you have no trouble repaying the pastor. I too, have to be careful with my bills so I don't go over what I can afford. I recently had to have repairs done to my car and the excess was $700. There was nothing budgeted for that so I'm having to juggle things a bit and try to cut down in some areas....it is so hard to do cos everything just keeps going up...except for my income. I feel for you and know how tough things can get. You are again a lovely source of inspiration to me.

Is it not wonderful that God uses others to answer our prayers? I am glad your pastor did not listen to the board and he knew that you were in need of assistance. I am sure that you paying back the last time you were in financial difficulties influenced his decision. Praying does work and you are proof that it does. Praise be to God!

That is great! I had a prayer answered. For some reason Housing had me come in to examine my case a couple weeks ago, even though it was supposed to be an annual review. Well I had had one six months ago. I thought why am I having to come in when it is supposed to be annual? I was worried, but I went in. Turns out they only raised my rent three dollars a month. Add to that, out of the blue, one of my aunts gave me 80 dollars for Christmas. We don't exchange gifts in my dad's family because it is so large. But she gave me that at our Christmas get together.

Oh that is so awesome! Only $3 a month raised? That is great! Better than some landlords, and rental companies. Congrats hon. I bet you're breathing a lot easier about that now. Hugs!

Actually, I don't know what my rent will be now. I had had it with my apartment. Friday night my sink overflowed with green water and food particles from the apartment above. The maintenance person didn't answer the page, so it went all over my counter, and flooded my kitchen into my living room. This after they said they had fixed it. Something similar happened last year. Since my lease is up in March, I gave them a vacate notice.

Wow, Carryl. I am just so thrilled to hear this. Thank God for your pastor. The world needs more men like him, who will take a stand, and throw away the rulebook from time to time. It does my heart good to see compassion in action. I was waiting to hear good news like this, in the midst of trouble, and am so thankful that the good news is 'yours.' Take care my friend. Hugs.

Thanks so much for the hugs. I can sure use them these days. Actually, we 'both' have awesome Pastors, as mine has done so much for my daughter and myself over the years too. He'd give 'anybody' the shirt off his back, as the saying goes. I'm continuing to hang in here, through what has been a rocky start to the New Year. I'm so happy that you received help, in your time of crisis. Take care.

Oh Katlady that is truly great news and happy to hear you've worked out your electric problem and that the pastor came through...miracles do indeed happen! I just bet when you went to the utility company and gave them the check you wanted to give them the Italian salute...or tell them to kiss my grits...heehee

I am so happy for you! I didn't respond to the previous discussion, but I did see it, and said a small prayer for you. I know how hard it can be dealing with the electric company, as I have had a couple close calls with them myself. But the Lord, as always, came through for you in your hour of need. Blessings to you, and hopes that this will be the biggest obstacle you will have to overcome this year!

Good for you!!! I remember when I was raising three kids by myself and sometimes didn't know where the next meal was coming from....sometimes I would go to the mailbox and there would be some strange check coming out of nowhere like a refund on insurance or something I totally wasn't expecting. You are so right. He does take care of us.....over and over and over again! When you have faith you have hope....when you have hope you have everything!
