Do you select the best response (BR) to your discussion having one answer?

I am resolving all my unresolved discussions because I want to give credit where credit is due. There are however some discussions which have one response only. I am planning to give the BR even then. What do you think? What would you have done? Would you be giving a best response?

Yes, if there is only one response, I'll award the BR to the only respondent. I feel he/she must be appreciated for his/her efforts for responding to my discussion. In fact, I found that my response was awarded the BR tag in few discussions, where I was the only respondent.

For you, i would gladly award you, Your responses are clear and concise. What if the response is short and is nonsense? Thanks for the input.

Jen - I am thoroughly delighted to know that you consider my response(s) worthy of best response(s). Your kind words for me are more than any best response award for me.

Every time I select the best response, I make sure that I am satisfied with the answer. In your case I will still apply the way I choose a best response. Even if there is only one reply, I would only choose it if my question was answered.

Thanks... Discussions with no selected best response yet are flagged as unresolved by myLot. I just let discussions remain unresolved until my question's answered. :)

Does it make any sense? Being the champion of a show with one participant? I do not think so. Under such circumstances, I would mark the response with '+'/ '-' mark.

I mark responses. Regarding best response - I'm bit lazy!

I would consider that if the response does not answer the question or does not give any vital contribution to the discussion. But that's a good option that should be considered. Thanks Nils, as always you come up with a good and logical answer. Did you apply this already? Happy mylotting.

I just gave someone the best response award on one of my discussion wherein he is the only one who responded. For me i think it's pretty noble for him to respond to such boring discussion like i had and that's more than enough to give him the award. Out of hundred thousands of users, he's the only one who gave effort in answering my discussion.

Lol, you're a sport, labeling your discussion boring. I like that, do you have many unresolved questions? I have several of them and now I'm busy selecting BR., Thanks for the essential comment.

Yeah i do have lots of unresolved discussions but those discussions are the interesting ones lol! It's pretty hard to choose especially with all the impressive responses the discussion has gathered. Sometimes it's just overwhelming that giving an award to one of them will make me feel like i've abandoned the rest. So it's pretty hard really. Lol! Well i came to a point that i regret creating that single discussion with no response lol! Now it's got one and that single respondent swept the awards he can get. The best response and the + for every comment he has made for every comments i made to reply. It's just like the Oscars.

Hello jenaisle! What do you mean about one answer? Do you mean one word answer or one liner answer?

I was saving on space so the discussion is poorly stated. I mean your discussion has been answered by only one person. and what if you choose someone and then after 5 months a better answer was given. then you would not be able to choose it any longer. so do you choose the current regardless of the answers after sometime? Thanks for the interest.

well honestly, I never immmediately my BR. I have so many unresolved discussions and some of them started 4 months ago. I am glad that there are still some members who are interested in anwering it until now. Well, the decision is still yours. If you feel like giving the best response and you like your discussion to resolve then go for it. Maybe you just want to give credit to the person who replied to you immediately. Giving BR has different criteria and it depends upon the owner of the discussion.

Hi, YA i don't mind in giving BEST RESPONSE to the responder who alone responded to my discussion, its like giving a sign of thanks to that person, as he /she had atleast spent a minute in responding to that discussion., It also motivates that person, and you may get response from that person in other discussions too,

Yes I do still select a best repsonses to discussions were there is only one reply. I try to give the post some time so that my friends have more chances to reply to it however after a month I will give the best response award. The person who has made an effort and tried to reply to my posts deserves to be rewarded. (c) ronaldinu 2009 - the more people I meet-the more I love my dog

I understand your point, the effort is worth a BR. Next would be, you'll award it even when the response is short and bad? Thanks for the input.

LOL. It happened before and yes, I choose the only answer as the best response there. I did that as the appreciation for the member who actually answer my question or being responsive to the discussion I made. It is not wasy to choose them as the best respondent especially when their response was not like what we wanted, but it was the only way, so yes, I would still select BR for the discussion with only one answer.

I do the same. I give best responses in discussions where there had been only one response. After all they took time and effort to respond and marking it is the only thing we can do say thank you! Have a nice day!

I don't generally have discussions in my account that has a single response. Even with multiple responses I am not someone who selects the best response for every discussion I start. may be i still wait for the response that would be deserving to get a best response. Yet I have selected best responses for quite a few discussions, for those replies which were exceptional & useful for me. I expect more quality replies come to my discussions I have started so that I would be more than glad in choosing my best responses. Thank you. have a nice time at mylot.

I've only opened a few discussions so far and haven't even considered the best responses. You have now given me a nudge to start. I think I would give a best response to a single responder, but I do think you have to give the discussion a bit of time before trying to select the best. How long I haven't decided yet.

hi jenaisle, my dear friend, i also have received one response in my posted discusssions and i have marked it as the best one . it is because i think, that the person has taken the pain to type a response for what i have posted which many would not have liked to respond back..so i feel that i should mark him/her response as the best. how does that matter. if i will mark a respond as the best for someone, then only will someone mark mine as the best.if i want best response from some one then i also should mark someone's response as the best.i feel so, what do you think my friend.

I agree Aweins, but if a seond response comes along and is better ,then we could not select it as the best response then. Can we? so we have to wait a number of days to select BR. Is that good? Thanks
