Based on an article from Philippine Star dated today: "PGMA named herself as Anti-Narcotics chief declaring an all-out war against illegal drugs amid the scandal involving government porsecutors, anti-narcotics agents and families of suspected drug dealers..." PGMA has been in the position for almost 8 years, and problem on illegal drugs isn't a new issue anymore. So, what's with the new title as Anti-Narcotics Chief? Why just now? Is it to cover up the issues that the government officials and personnel are facing right now? Or is it to divert the public's attention from these drug issues? Should we expect that more drug pushers and drug lords will now be put in jail? Should we expect a faster and just decisions on cases involving illegal drugs that are on court right now regardless of the social status of the accused?

Isn't it she gave this position to former Sen. Tito Sotto?? was he just become a dummy now that the president took over his position. Well as PGMA strategy, may be its just one of her government tactics to cover up some issues her officials are facing right now. It has been her strategy you know. I agree with you, WHY ONLY NOW?? It is because lots of BIG NAMES are involve in this issue?? Does she tries to protect some "personalities" here?? It has been a BIG PROBLEM in the country even before she became president. So what's the intention now??

I guess that is the hottest issue of the day and since her name is not drag into that mess she took the initiative of taking in the responsibility. I guess she is just taking this opportune time to at least boost her credibility that for the past surveys have gone down already. Hopefully she could do something to it and would not just be on the helm of things because its the hottest thing.

After all the scandals the government had been involved to, still it deserves a chance. And no matter what happens, she is still our president. You are right rsa101, let's just hope that it will be for the better.
