I like to take two or three things apart and turn them into something custome made that is functional, beautiful, and unique. I have created many peices of furnature this way. there are a lot of positives to it...I save the furnature from the garbage heap, I save money I dont have to pay for one at a store...which means there is no gas or energy used other than my own labor put into it. and it is special to me then. I have some videos on my youtube channel megsgem if you want to watch....here is a pic of one! let me know if there are others like me out there! thanks! You cant see the island I made that matches the wall cabiney I made and I redid the chairs and foot stool, made the dry erase board...the window treatment ...plus more you cant see...lastly is to paint and retile....but so far almost no cost for my redo ...I mean llike I spent 10.00 on the material for the chairs...thats it...I had the rest or dumpster dived.....thanks

That is some very nice handiwork and creativity as well as resourcefulness! Kudos to you! I too, dumpster dive. But I don't "create" such custom items as you have done. I merely put things to use. We got our computer desk from the trash. One caster and the keyboard drawer had broken off. Simply removing the other 3 wheels and putting in new screws on the drawer fixed it up and it works great for us. Now to find 3 more for each of our other computers. Computer desk chair was also thrown out. Just needed some new screws in the back. I don't do large creations. My creativity is more of a smaller scale. I turn junk into jewelry, trinkets and small useful items. The largest thing I've done is shelves for my daughter's closet, which I made from PVC pipes for the frame and drywall pieces from a dumpster for the shelving. People throw away so much stuff that still has alot of life in it simply because they don't know how to fix or "band-aid" things up. Gives us creative and "fix-it" people alot of great stuff!

Good for you, I have done several small projects. I usually get my items from garage sale and thrift store. The curtain is pretty.

Very nice. We used to actively dumpster dive, but age is getting to us so we now pretty much stick to flea markets, yard sales and resale shops. We have always done things like tht. Love your window treatment and would love to see a close up of it and the table mat.

Good for you! I really like what you have done. I am also a believer in recycling old things for a new purpose....saves money and makes it unique too!

Awesome! I am so into recycled/upcycled creations. Anytime anyone can reduce the amount of unwanted "stuff" going to a garbage dump is fantastic!!! Taking several items of what one person thought was garbage and using your talents and skills to create something new, has started to become very popular with the public! And your creations are no exception!! Keep uploading images of your upcycled items... very cool work!

Awesome job! I think taking something that someone is throwing away and making something useful out of it makes it really special. I have several things in my home that I made from recycled items and they are my most favorite things. I seem to have become known as the junk lady in my area as when people have yard sales or are cleaning out their basements and things they always call me to ask if I want their stuff. Even the local thrift shop now calls me when they have items that have been there and have not sold for a long time to see if I would be interested in them. I guess it is because everyone is now familiar with my gift shop which is a "hand-crafted items only" gift shop. I have 37 crafters, plus myself putting things in the shop and at least half of them use recycled items. One woman paints furniture she finds on the curb for trash with flowers using the Donna Dewberry technique and her items fly out of my store. Another of my crafters is so talented that no matter what you give her she makes something out of...including ribs from a cow (she created a beautiful centerpiece from them). These crafters are fantastic as they help keep the landfills from filling up, because they don't pay much for their finds (dumpster diving, city wide clean up, and the dump are free)they keep their prices way low which customers really like. I just love creative minds in talented people. Keep up the good work. Sharon www.stores.ebay.com/oleandlenasofwisconsin
