hi all! fruits are very tasty and nutritious. that's why more and more people are now appreciating the taste and health benefits of fruits. and since each part of the world has a different climate, a variety of fruits have been cultivated in all parts of the world. and because of this variety, a lot of fruits are available for consumption. and some are kinda exotic and can arouse one's curiosity. and one of such fruits is the durian. all i know about it, although i live in the philippines, is that durian smells soooo bad. but culinary experts and filipinos in davao claim that even though durian smells horrible, its taste is heavenly. unfortunately, i still find it difficult to find durian here in the manila area, and i'm looking forward to tasting one. =) but for now, i would have to satisfy myself by asking... what does durian taste like? :) thanks and happy mylotting!

It's funny how you didn't eat Durian yet. I am located in Japan but I already ate this fruit. My mom is from Cebu, one time on vacation we bought durian in one street vendor. It looks enormously hard, the thorns in the skin is like saying "don't get near me"... i didn't know how my mom opened it. All i know is it really smells like rust and pig feeds...but when i ate it it's really good. It tastes like jackfruit, "marang" another brown like durian but the thorns are not that stiff, it also tastes like mangostene (forgive the spelling). Can you imagine now? I suggest you should eat it, it's available in department store. Once you start eating the smell no long longer disturbs you. Amazing fruit!

Durians taste sweet ! Especially those from Thailand. However, its true, some people find it horrible, i think it has got to do with genetics - people from South East Asia don't seem to have a problem, but those from Europe and Americas find it horrible. For me, they taste and smell sweet - eversince I was child ! - they are one of my favorite fruits.
