http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28682964/ SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - Police say a poodle mistakenly left for nearly three weeks inside a van in a Vermont airport parking garage has survived. The 12-year-old miniature poodle lost half its body weight and endured subzero temperatures. Police believe it was without food and water for 19 days. Police say the dog is recovering and not available for adoption. The male dog was discovered Jan. 6 after someone reported a foul odor coming from the vehicle. The owner, 50-year-old Pascal Bellon of Frelighsburg, Quebec, says he didn't know the dog was in the vehicle. He was issued a ticket for cruelty to animals and has agreed to give up custody of the pet and pay veterinary bills. a TICKET?!?! and how do you not notice your pet is missing?? omg i hate people that abuse animals!!

I don't understand why it took the people who used the garage and patrolled the garage 19 day before anyone noticed anything. I would hear and notice a dog in a van. Was this dog silent the whole time?

oh lord! thats a miracle. the poor little thing. some people just shouldnt be allowed to have pets. they should be put into some kind of bad pet owner list and never be allowed one again.

Me too! My dog took off once for four days...every waking minute was searching for him....I bet I wasted 3 tanks of gas just driving around looking for him...then one day he just comes walking down the street like nothing happened....I was so relieved to see him....I don't know how you could not know your dog was in the car either.....they bark when someone walks by...they like to look out of the window..you are right....the punishment it not up to where it needs to be!

OMG! He didn't know it was in the vehicle? How is that possible? I could understand leaving a book in the car, but an animal? Come one people. I think that people like this should be banned from ever owning an animal. I wish someone would leave him in avan for that long so he could sleep in his own filth without any food. Jerk!

yeah but if we did that to him it would be "inhumane" which is bs!! we cant treat terrorist or criminals/murderers like he treated the dog but yet he only gets a ticket.. so wrong

i like dogs too,‘cause they are understanding human-being’s emotion easily, and sometime they can help people too.I once adopted a dog for 5 years, but one morning about at 5 o’clock, it was stolen by a dog-thief. we were sad during that time.

Awwwwwwwww Thats so sad. I agree with the who ever owns this dog should be shot. I myself hate animal abusers. And if i see stray animals wondering around i will take them n sometimes when i can and find them a good home. I just rescued a cat about 10 months ago. Me and my man where driving around and i saw this cat with a bag over its head. And it looked hungry (Skinny), so i took it n when i caught it and gave it to a good home. And till this day its happy and healty. I hope that dog gets healthy and goes to a good home.

I'm sorry to hear that this poor dog had to endure such terrible treatment...at least he isn't in that owner's care anymore. I think though that instead of a ticket he should have gotten some jail time to make sure he got the seriousness of the situation...also I would have banned him from ever owning another pet. Some ppl just don't deserve to have a pet. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I agree with you on the last part. I am amazed that the dog managed to survie 19 days without food or water. I cannot imagine the kind of pain the dog has to go thru. I sure hope the dog will recover fully enough to be adopted by some loving family that will be able to treat it better.

That is just pitiful. I think it sounds like he did it on purpose. Lucky dog to survive that long. Others wise that smell would of been a different kind of smell.
