Have you been so depressed that you just slept the whole afternoon?

Well, I was feeling so depressed today and I was trying to get some work done but could not make any headway. This problem about money kept bothering me and there seemed to be no solution to it that I can think of. I decided to sleep the afternoon away. I am feeling more energized now. I hope that keeps the depression at bay.

I have heard about this friend. They say, sleeping off the depressive bouts is the best way to deal with it. I, on the contrary, cannot sleep when I am depressed, down and sad. It's only I am in a happy frame of mind that I could sleep my heart full. I have had sleepless nights when I was down and had to take pills to get some pills. Those were terrible days, I better not share. I am glad that it helped in your case. Happy sleeping!

When you are in the right condition I guess you will beat anyone in the Sleep Olympics but you would also win in the Insomnia Olympics when you're depressed. Cheers!!

I believe these are the four things I do when I am depress. I eat, or I sleep, or I cry and I pray. When I am in this very low moment of my life, I am very low. I always feel that I deeply buried, but thank God, I always get back on track. With regards to money problems, it is a never ending problem. We have been into many depression and problems, we have encountered it so many times before, with that I know we will be able to make it through this time around.

The good thing is that the solution to feeling blue comes quite easily and naturally. There seems to be a limiting factor to everything including feeling sad. Cheers!!

Really underdogtoo, I feel that when feeling depressed I could find no way to solve the problem faced so I usually would like to spend my unpleasant time by sleeping a lot. After taking a cup of hot milk stirred with milo I would then close all the windows in my bedroom with curtains pulled together. Lying in the bed with soft light music as background I would fall asleep easily. If I could I surely would sleep the whole day. Very often after waking up I would feel energetic and refreshed again. Yeah, without any depressed mood, it is the right time for me to think nicely how to solve the problem faced. Very often problem would solve much easier when we are vigorous. Happy posting and good luck.

Nature seems to have given us some very simple ways of dealing with depression, sleep. I appreciate how it refreshes us and gives us more energy after a good one. Cheers!!

Hi! I think I also did this before. But the reason was heartache. I just slept, and when I woke up, I told myself to move on. Take care

yes sleeping in afternoon afer taking food, can give energy to us. i also feel bad ,inspite of earning online . i get sleep more and feels lazy if i don;t sleep more . thinks of not to sleep ,but it is not possible to me. u can fix a time for particular hours and can sleep in that time only and do u;r job or business in remaining time. money is important in life ,so work hard for it and sleep in night only , if possible for u.

So many things in my life cause me to become negative and sometimes sleep gives me a little respite from that. Sleep does help, in many ways. Cheers!!

I guess our body knows how much sleep it needs and gets it in that way. I do not like to sleep during daytime but after a hard day's work I find myself spending an hour in bed recovering from spent energy. Cheers!!

Definitely! It happened September last year when me and my friend was looking for a job. We were very disappointed that day because the job that we applied for was no longer available for us. As a trained agent, they can't give my expected salary and for my friend, they do not have a position that he likes. The company was far away from home that is why we were very disappointed. We wasted our effort and money going there. After we arrived here, we had lunch then after that, he used my laptop computer then I went to my bed. Little did I know, We slept the whole day! He slept beside my computer desk in our living room and me, in my room. My parents woke me up and him for dinner... Too depress to even eat dinner at that time... He just went home then I just slept again til the morning not because I am sleepy but I lost a lot of positive energy to go on at that day. THe next day, I promised myself that I would never do that again. It is not a good habit for me... lolz... to sleep the whole day! haha.. Thank goodness it didn't happen now. Thank you for the discussion. Happy Mylotting and Have a great day! Cheers!

To sleep after an exhausting day is probably a good way to get rid of the heavy weight of rejection. I think you have the right attitude for dealing with life. Cheers to you too!!!

We all have those days. The way the economy is going we will get more depressed for awhile. I dont get much sleep, especially during the day, cuz once im awake im up for the day. Depression is a hard thing to get rid of for some people, even with medication. We all have our cincerns about money, nothing we can do til the economy gets better, so just hang in there

I have! I forgot why I was depressed though :P which is good for me because I always remember what I felt when I pull a memory from my head. So at least I wouldn't have to remember how depressed I felt then. I have also experienced "crying myself to sleep" :P it feels so dramatic when I remember it now but I know that it hurt a lot when I did :P Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Crying for no apparent reason is not so bad, it does purge the soul of some unspoken burden. Cheers!!

hello underdogtoo Depression is a part & parcel of everybody's life. The modern man is facing it everyday with increasing complexity of life. I am no exception. I believe everyone has their own way of combating depression. For me some sleep acts as the best medicine. Whenever I feel low,I just close my eyes & lie down,if i am at home. Even a 15 minutes nap makes me feel fresh. thank u for starting this interesting discussion. i appreciate.

Yeah sometimes really all you can think about is the issue that is depressing you and all you want to do is just curl up in ball and just sleep on it.... It helps usually you just think about it for so long you just can't be depressed about it anymore!^^

Strange as it sounds, I sleep when I'm depressed. The more depressed I am the more I sleep. Right now, I'm thinking I need some iron tablets b/c I'm sleeping just about all the time and I'm not really depressed about anything. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Sleeping and depression are partners. Depression deprives one of energy which makes sleep the only viable alternative. Thanks for responding.

That also happened to me before. When im so much depress i wanted to rest my mind and my body because i feel so tired thinking those kind of things and always bothers me, so i decided to take a nap and i ended up sleeping whole afternoon, and that makes me feel worst coz it makes me feel lazy.

Becoming lazy is part of depression. A depressed person rarely has the energy to do meaningful work. Thanks for responding.
