This is so tragic! I really don't have many details, I just happened to hear them report on this briefly on my local 11:00 news and I looked it up online. http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2009/01/state_police_probe_juniata_cou.html State police are investigating the death of a 14-year-old boy who they say was shot by a 13-year-old boy this afternoon at a home in the 100 block of Moorehead Street in Port Royal, Juniata County. Police were notified of the shooting about 1:15 p.m. (End of article) This happened in a tiny little town in central Pennsylvania, not a place you'd expect to find kids killing kids! AS I said, I don't have any details but I must confess my first thought was "What the heck was a 13 year old doing with a gun anyway?"! Why weren't these kids in school? Any thoughts? Annie

Annie, I had to respond to this only because as much as it may seem impossible, this is going on all over. My daughter who will be 14 in a few weeks, told me of what happened in her school. Some boy who was in the 6th grade brought a hand grenade to school. She watched the police take this boy down that was only a year younger than her. I don't think I have ever been so thankful not to be in school at this time of my life and so afraid that this is happening in small town America. My kids live in Maine not NY, so they do go to a small town school. I am thankful my children were not harmed but worried this is the future they face. Ainge

Where have you been, Hon? I've missed you! I know exactly what you mean. I'm very familiar with the little town where this shooting I posted about took place. There's a dirt race track there my husband and I go to now and then and they have a nice country fair there every year. It's in the middle of a bunch of farms. A year or so ago there was a 14 year old girl from a school near me who was overheard plotting what she'd claimed would be another Columbine. She was taken into custody and I'm not sure what happened afterwards. Who knows how serious she actually was but you can't take chances with things like that! Thinking back to my own school days SO many years ago, I can't believe what is happening these days. I sure understand the worry you must feel, I'm the same way about my grandkids. Annie

Well it is nice to be missed. Have missed you too and our banter even when we may not get along. I have been in the process of moving from New Jersey to New York in Queens. What a nightmare. Also the GitMo cases are picking up here in NYC so that is taking a bit of my time too. I will keep you updated on the rest when I post on here in a bit. Taking some time to go over many needed responces. Would not be surprised if I don't make my "mylot" quota tonight for payment. lol Oh yeah, I also have been working on my 3rd Novel...Release date in the fall....big hugs and have missed you too. That really is tragic. I'm so tired of turning on the news and hearing about this stuff. I don't know what these kids are thinking these days. It really does make me worry about the future for my children.

It is tragic. There seems to be more and more teens, who turn to violence rather easily. I can't help but wonder what this generation of teens is coming to. Is it going to get worse? Is it going to get better? Well, I don't know. I hope it doesn't get worse that's for sure. But I do hope that it gets better.

It's amazing what things have come to now-a-days. I remember when all of this started to arise and was appalled and it's just getting worse and worse.
