I seem to be becoming addicted to facebook.....

I never bothered much with facebook and I have been a part of it for about a year or so I think but I never knew what to do on it really and I had no friends to really add to it so I never bothered with it.
Anyway recently I realised that I needed to try and get a social life in the area that I live in, having no friends can be very lonely at times and I was getting down, I knew people through taking my children to school but not to any degree of being friends. Anyway my hubby goes on facebook a lot and he has recently been finding old friends and school friends and he came across some of the girls that I see at school so I took the plunge and asked them to be friends they accepted and so I have been taking tentative steps in trying to develop friendships with them, it is hard work but I think I am getting there albeit slowly.
I then joined some groups and I found my old schools and I discovered friends from school that i have not seen or heard off for over 20 years and so I have a few of them on there now too. So now I find myself going over to facebook more and more and I do have fun on there I get to have a bit of a laugh with people which breaks my day up and keeps me in touch with the human race so to speak and I like it!! I am hoping that it will help me out a bit as lately I have been through quite a lot of emotional stuff.
Anyway has anyone else discovered any sites lately that they have become a bit fond of or addicted too? And if any of my lovely friends on here are missing me and are on facebook and want to add me then that is cool!!!

Thanks gemini rose. I will certainly check this out once I have the time. I have heard a lot of good thing about facebook and it can also be utilized to promote your sites or blogs. So it will certainly make a big difference considering that you will gain friends and get to have some promotions on the other side.

I was addicted to Facebook and Myspace when I first joined them, basically for the same reasons as you. I found a few old school friends, although haven't hooked up with them yet, I'd like to at some point and even offered to meet up with one of them... maybe when the weather gets warm again.
I also got addicted to the apps on Facebook.
But now that I've been on there a few months, it's a bit old. I still sign in once a day and keep up with my friends, but I don't spend more than 10 minutes on there usually.

LOL I just found you!! I dont play many of the games or anything and I dont spend hours on their chatting on the chat thing, I go on that occasionally I mainly talk to everyone through the status thing or through the private messaging thingy but it is still nice and good fun to just be able to have a bit of fun to break the day up. Mylot is oK but I just wanted something a bit more if you know what I mean.

I joined facebook a few months ago and I find it very confusing. I have a few family members as friends and there is no correspondence there. But I have friends there from another site I spend time at. Now a couple of these women keep sending me stuff. I have hundreds of these things in my in box and I don't know what to do with them. I'm just not into facebook...it makes no sense to me and I cannot see the purpose of it. I would rather spend my time here and at the other site. Am I offending these women when I don't respond to them...I rarely go there and when I do it's a chore to try and send things back...I have no idea what I'm doing.

Lol that will be all the little applications and things they keep sending you! I am a bit of a devil for sending them to those on my friends list but it does not offend me if they do not accept them. Some people like them, some dont!!

I like Face Book Too Rose as it has enabled me to reconnect with several lost school friends and I even met one again after twenty years of being apart!!
I am also able to keep up with family on there as well which is nice!
I even have a couple My Lot friends on my list!
PM me your name and I will add you!
I don't do a lot of the apps more useful for me in chatting with my cousin who lives on the other side of the country from me etc but I'll add you if you like!
Face Book is really great as I otherwise would have never re-united with the old friends that I have found on there!

Hey!! yes it is a useful tool to track down lost friends and even find family members my dad has found relations through facebook! I will pm you my name in a min i dont chat a lot on there or play games much i tend to chat if someone puts their status on, that seems to be a popular way of talkin without actually chattin if you know what i mean LOL xx

I was getting pretty addicted to myspace for a while. That is, until I found mylot! LOL I got in touch with a few old friends and classmates on there and some of them are on my friends list now. Although I haven't seen them in years it is interesting to see what they are up to nowadays. I still have my myspace account, as well as a facebook one, but don't go on either very much. With facebook I signed up several months ago, but never really got into it, like I did with myspace. I didn't even have one friend on there. One day, a few months ago, someone requested my friendship. I recognized the name though I wasn't sure about the face so I added him. When he asked why I didn't have a picture up or why I didn't have any friends I replied back saying he must not have been the same person I thought it had been because if it had been he surely would have known it was me by my name alone and wouldn't have had to ask me such a question. After that I removed him from my friends list (something I don't do on mylot). Anyway, I decided to start looking for friends and family on there. I didn't really find any of my old friends, but I did find a few family members and added them to my friends list.
I like myspace and facebook well enough, but mylot is still the best!

Dont get me wrong I do like mylot, its just that i needed something a little closer to home, facebook provides me with an opportunity to get to know people in my area.

Hi Gemini, Like you I have never really used Facebook even though I signed up also about a year ago but it was a friends sons 21st birthday so I left him a message on his wall and my girls added me and some of their friends then a few from myLot and I also managed to find someone from my old school in Surrey now also living in Exmouth recently so I have been using it a bit more. Still haven't quite worked out some of the requests I receive for plants and to join different groups but it is fun. Huggles. Ellie :D

I love the applications, I send them out all the time I am surprised people are not fed up of me!! I have some rellies in Australia and one of them is going to add me on it too so I am really pleased about that!!

I a, becoming addicted, too. I reconnected yo people who used to be really important to me- best friend from college, college roommate, friends from elementary school, mentors and colleagues (current and past).

i use facebook to find old friends and it works because most people aound the world uses it. i am familiar how it works because i use to be with friendster before facebook and it has served its purpose until most of the people are becoming too annoying already and they just simply messed up the site. i find facebook very productive, as well. i use it to find some groups to support my affiliate marketing in the net. i can find answer to some of my needs. i also maintain anothe r social networking site, which is multiply.com but i use it for a another purpose.

I've become addicted to the applications on facebook and myspace and spend a lot of time playing them now, more time than I spend doing activities that pay me which has to change. I love the things like the lil green patch app that lets you send plants to your friends and help them maintain their patches.

For me ,actually I have the facebook account for about two years or so ,taht was because one of my teacher want us to join in facebook and know more friends from there ,unfortunately,we do not use that site quite ofen since we have a similar site as facebook so popular in my country to make friends as well as gain many friendship that have been lost for quite a long time ...hehe ..For me mylot is engough ~~~~~~

Cool.. i love facebook.. at first i was hesitant to sign up as i've got a friendster account already but when hubby encouraged me to creat a facebook account, i gave it a shot.. now, i seem to be becoming addicted to facebook too.. i love the applications!!! (pet society and yoville to name some)

hey gemini_rose =) im not that addicted to facebook, but i do like being there if my closest friend were online too lol coz if they're not there, i will be bored fast..but if a discussion board, i prefer hi5 than facebook coz i have lotz of friends from all over the world, where we feel really close eventhough its an online friendship =)

Well, I'm not really a fan of the applications on Facebook, but I really do enjoy using the site. It's a really easy way to keep in touch with friends that you don't see on a regular basis, plus it's pretty secure and safe too. I used to be totally addicted too, but not much anymore. I only go on now to keep in touch with a few friends and check out all those online stores that's popping up all over the place. It's a pretty good site, so I'm glad that you decided to give it a chance and check it out!

I think all of these sites are addicting. I don't know if you have tried the farm game on there, but it is so addicting me and my friends compete at it. I can't explain exactly why, but yes it is fun in a odd way. It is a easy way to keep in touch with a lot of people all at one time. My friend joined and in one week had connected with like 20 people she hadn't seen since high school, and probably would have lost all contact if they were not members. I guess we will see how our social future goes.

I dont really play too many of the applications although I have a couple on myspace that I go on, I just like to try and form some friendships on facebook.

I was addicted to facebook for a while. looking at new pictures of old people i knew growing up.. oh wow it was exciting to see what everyone looked like now, how many had kids.. lol. i'm over it. . I dont go on facebook very often anymore.. now i'm back to being addicted to mylot. haha.

Lol, i am becoming pretty addicted there too, i probably pop in there several times a day to see if anything new has happened. It is a great way to reconnect with old school friends and people you have lost contact with. I like it too how we can keep in regular contact, shame we haven't been able to catch each other online at the same time again. Look forward to chatting to you on there again. Remember I am always here for you if you want to chat. Sorry I haven't go back to your last message, just thought I would catch up with you again on the instant messages, but have not had a chance yet.

Facebook is very handy in keeping in touch with family and friends and finding long lost old school friends. It is interesting to see what everyone is upto nowadays!! All my friends are now married and/or having children.

I prefer Myspace to Facebook but I am a member of both for years now. I really don't understand the applications at all but then again I haven't really looked into them either. I think I just need to rediscover Facebook because I have heard that they have upgraded lately and changed a lot for the better.
