If you shop at craft fairs, hobby fairs or farmers markets are you one that goes just to look? Or are one that purchases things at them because they are homemade and good quality? Or are you one that goes to get a certain item them browses? Or do you go to them to get ideas for your own projects? I go to some just to look and get ideas for my own projects as well as get cards/names of people who make certain things so i can order for the next christmas. Its very rare that i go to a craft fair and DONT come home with atleast one item and bunch of ideas for future projects gifts or pricing for my own table at the local hobby fair.

I like to go look but I'm really too impatient or dumb to actually finish a project.. so I hardly buy anything... we have a flea market here, but I stopped going to it cause the huge snake scared the pizz outta me.. apparently people get their pic taken with the snake.. yeah.. that's what I want.. a 200 pound snake around my neck .. and a pic of me turning purple!.. wait! what was the question again????

Generally when we go to these markets we are amongst the sellers although from time to time my partner will buy something. We make jams, preserves, sauces, relish and puree from the organic fruit and vegetables that we grow on or small farmlet. We also have some dehydrated fruit and vegetables and we do that ourselves as well. My partner is also good at various types of craft and she often has some that she has done to sell as well. What is available will depend of course on the time of the year, because for example right now we are too busy with the farm so we would only have things which were not sold last year. We also like to browse and my partner in particular enjoys that side of things as well as talking to the other stall holders. So I am left looking after our stall while she is busy wandering around checking everything else out. If she sees something that she likes and thinks either her or I could make, then she will but one if the stall holder is from out of town. We do not directly compete with the local craft people, at least as far as copying something that they do. But sometimes we might have the same crafts as they do but it was not their design originally. Craft Fairs or Farmers Markets are wonderful places. In fact for many of the stall holders, what they can sell can make quite a difference to their lifestyle. It might mean that they can say treat their children to something special that they could not otherwise afford.

I love to go to craft fairs both to pick up new idea, and to buy some products, I don't really get much time to do many craft now with the kids....either I have no time or they've used my materials :)..But it's good that they like art and design. Our local farmers market is fruit, veg and meat, no crafts which is probably good as no doubt I wouldn't be able to resist. D xx

The items are really neat i see sometimes. I saw some Garbage bins that you put your garbage can in to hide it..made out of old wood from barns - very beautiful. If we had room in my car id have been bringing it home!

Hey sanudyl! I haven't been to a good craft fair in a long time! I do go to the farmers market the next city up from me, but they only have it open in the summertime, at least the outdoor kind! I love to go to all kinds of fairs, flea flea markets just to see what I can find that is unusual! I love to just look around and get ideas or maybe pick up a new nic nac or something! I never get tired of checking out those things! I think they are so fun because you never know what you will find! And it does give me ideas sometimes for my own projects too!
