I'm disappointed...

with my dad. We went to a funeral wake today. The deceased is someone from my mother's side of the family. When we were there, my dad just couldn't be bothered to get to know our relatives. He chose to sit at the furthest end of the room and was just content sitting there. Even after my mum's persuasion to join her and converse in small talk with her aunts and uncles. He refused. He just refused and went "whatever for?" I don't know. Are you like that too? Are you not bothered about your spouse's family members?

I am pretty shy when it comes to my boyfriend's family members. But, I do make it a point to strike small talks. Just to at least let them know that I'm not trying to be a snob or I'm trying to ignore them.

Well, some people are really not into socializing. This maybe true with your dad. Your dad might be comfortable to be by himself than pretend to be thrilled meeting family members when he really feels edgy. Don't be disappointed. He just needs time to know them better. Maybe in a different setting. Like a more personal meeting like a family dinner.
