removing or spitting out an ingredient or 2. Like onions in chili or the pecans in butter pecan ice cream? I know a few people who do this. And honestly, I love the rich taste of butter pecan ice cream, but not the pecans.

I love butter pecan but like you do not like the pecans in it. I will buy it and then pick the pecans out of mine and eat it. I will cook a lot with mushrooms but on some dishes after they are done and I make my plate I pick them out for some reason even though I like the flavor they give the food while cooking.I love chicken noodle soup but refuse to eat the chicken that comes in it so I pick it all out while I am cooking it. I know there are other things that I do this with also but can't think of them right now.

I also pick out the chicken. I make homemade chicken and noodles. Love the flavor, but not the chicken itself.

I don't think I have any normal ingredient that I would spit out. I'd be afraid of offending the cook.

Yum! That is my favorite Ice cream is butter pecan and second choice is maple nut. Hey bible says share..lol..No I eat the nuts I enjoy the crunch of the nuts with my ice cream. I love onions in any shape or form so I don't spit them out, but I have 3 sister in laws that do. One hates beans and she is always spiting out the beans in foods, like chili and the other two hate onions and mushrooms and are always picking through to get them out or spitting them out when they find them. I guess I am a food compacter..well except for seafood and other fish. Now those I do spit out. I was in a restaurant eating a fried rice and didn't realize it had small chunks of shrimp in it boy was I grabbing a napkin to spit it into and them proceeded to dig through the rice within a inch of it's life to get the other shrimp out. The rice was delicious though.

I normally pick around things in a dish I like other than one specific ingredient if it is something that I can pick around it and have it not taste like that ingredient too much. I love the taste of butter pecan ice cream, but I could do without the actual pecans too. Sweet cream at Coldstone is similar. I love that stuff.

For me it would be the celery in apple salad or potato salad. I hate raw celery and leave it out of my salads but I've eaten salads with it in. If I get even a bite of it, the entire salad is ruined for me. Raw celery in anything is disgusting. Strangely though, I can handle it if it is cooked. I can handle pecans in things, but not plain. I never could undertand the appeal because they taste like dirt to me. LOL

It's funny you should ask this. I just had some butter pecan ice cream and I was telling my husband I like the ice cream but didn't care for the pecans in it lol. I ate them anyways because it was too hard to eat around them lol.

I do the same thing! I love the ice cream, but the nuts just shouldn't be there haha. I do that with other dishes, but of course I can't think of them at the moment.
