Why on Earth, on MyLot, Do Odd Postings Get Most Hits?

"I Don't Get It!" - I have a question. "Why on Earth...?" "Why on MyLot?"....
I don't understand!

There are so many interesting topics here on MyLot. Yet, I click on "hot", or "today's top", and they all seem to be these (sorry, but in my opinion) dumb topics. I don't get it. Isn't there anything more worthwhile to discuss? Or, do I exptect too much from this site?

I feel that everything on myLot is interesting to someone but it's not all interesting to everyone. We come here to have fun. Some users get their fun discussing very different topics from others. Maybe what you call 'dumb' topics are fun topics for those who love doing them and what you call 'worthwhile' would not be what they call fun. I never go to politics or religion discussions and they are not topics I discuss offline either. Just about everything else, unless it is a topic where I feel out of my depth completely, is interesting. Maybe I only read them without responding but elsewhere I may stop and chat backwards and forwards with someone participating in the discussion. This has happened on 'dumb' and on 'worthwhile' topics. Instead of going to the top or the hot discussions why not go to 'no responses'? There you will find pages of discussions, some posted one second earlier some months ago but all are waiting for us to respond and I'm sure there you will find many just like I do. If you respond on a discussion which has no responses you will be helping yourself and someone else too Happy Lotting!

Thanks for your response. I marked it "best" response. I think you have a lot of valid points. And, likely, I need to be less picky.

I never look at the top ones. And the reason I do not is usually they have been responded to so much why should I put my two cents in too. I mean I think I have a couple times but to me it seemed everyone already covered most of what I would have written myself. I know it does seem that people respond to weird things sometimes but that is one of the cool things about mylot. You can express yourself in a weird way and make friends and make money, now how cool is that? LOL Happy mylotting to you and good luck with your discussion here.

Thanks. (Love your Hello Kitty - my sister did her daughter's room in Hello Kitty). Happy MyLotting to you! And, it is a nice way to earn a few cents. :)

I kind of feel the same way you do. I have to search hard for topics to respond to at times. Usually I find them in the new topics section. I don't understand either how such "mundane" topics can be the best topics of the day or why more people respond to them. Maybe it is because they can give an easy and quick response, thereby boosting the posters number of responses to put the discussion on top. But you aren't the only one to notice this.

I think you're definitely right. Some people are looking for, simpleminded, discussions it seems. Their responses don't require a lot of thought... I don't want to offend. So, I shouldn't go on. But, thanks for your good reply.

I agree with you, whenever I post a thought provoking discussion, I only get one or two replies, but If I post a no brainer, I usually get over twenty responses. I do not know the logic, I know that is what happens. If I post a news item, that I think is interesting, no one wants to respond.

Unfortunately, that's very true. Thanks for your response.
