Is Iraqi Shoe Thrower Seeking Asylum? http://news.aol.com/article/iraqi-shoe-thrower-to-seek-asylum/310798?icid=200100397x1217428279x1201163657 When he threw that shoe at President Bush, he knew the risk he was taking. It reminds me of these low lifes in the USA who do all sorts of things to hurt others and then they cry about how they should be spared. They know the risks. He should stay right where he is. If he learns a little to late, maybe someone will learn right on time. There was a time when nobody would ever think of throwing shoes at any president of a country. We need to go back to that time.

If the story is true, I can't imagine why a person considered a "hero" would need asylum. Strange story. I guess at leasthe's looking to Switzerland instead of the U.S., now THAT, would be the height of hypocrocy, lol. Funny story though, if he's such a hero in the arab world, why would he feel in danger in it?

Maybe it is only a few who think he is a hero. Let him go live with them.

It is being said that he is such a hero in his country that he fears being martyred. Why would they martyr a guy they think is a hero on purpose? If that is the case why hasn't Bin Lauden's people martyred him yet?

FOr the same reason that Bin Laden hasn't done anything in a long time, he is stuck in a hole somewhere and a bit cut off from the world. Someone recently brought this home to me talking about bin ladens latest tape. They basically said: Wait a minute, any jo can create a podcast with better quality than that. And since he isn't backing up his tapes with any real threat, he has now been reduced to a podcaster with low quality and poor distribution.

It probably is not a big enough offense.

That's interesting, I guess time will tell if he gets it or not. Did you hear someone was arrested in Washington today for throwing a show over the White House fence? Annie

What an idiot. Might as well go poke a grizzly with a short stick.

Well even the article posts evidence that he is not seeking asylum. His own lawyers and family dispute the claim as bogus. Either way he won't get it. Switzerland only takes about 10% of asylum requests and his is certainly not a worthy case. In effect it would say that the Swiss feel those who assault foreign leaders shouldn't face punishment. It also would be offensive to the Iraqi justice system and to the United States of America.

We will see when it is all said and done.
