The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 American drama film, written and directed by Frank Darabont, based on the Stephen King novella, "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption". The film stars Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne and Morgan Freeman as Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding. The film moves around Andy Dufresne (who was punished for a crime that he never committed ) and his life inside Shawshank State Prison for about 20 years and his friendship with Red, a fellow inmate. This movie is considered by many as the greatest films of all time. And I would say it deserves that spot. Great storytelling which goes on as a narration by Red (Freeman) really makes you sit tight and watch it. Morgan Freeman was nominated for Oscar for the best actor for this role only to loose to Tom Hanks for Forrest Gump. This is a highly inspiring movie and if you haven't watched it till now ,I would suggest you wait no more and grab the movie..It worth it..Have a good time watching it.

I watched this movie "again for the first time" last night. (I've probably seen it 20 times). It was on HBO2. I was surprised they were playing the classic. It is definitely one of my favorites. And it is always a joy to find such a great movie on when you are surfing the channels thinking that there is nothing on tv anymore. LOL I really like Tim Robbins' acting in this film. His facial expressions are to die for. And I think Morgan Freeman does a heck of a job in every role that he has ever played in a movie. I definitely give this movie two thumbs up!

I watched this film on dvd for the first time last Christmas and I would say that this film is really great and spectacular. Originally written by Stephen King and directed by Frank Darabont (same tandem of Green Mile starring Tom Hanks), the story was super amazing I did not move in my seat for about two hours. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman were on their best acting performance in this film. I love the story, very unique, classic and emotional, it is far different from other prison-inspired films because Shawshank Redemption focuses on the worthiness of the inmates and how they transformed the gloomy prison into a more useful home of people who turn to the left side of life. I would also love to recommend this film to others who did not see this movie, this is a must see film for the entire family.
