Real personality vs. online personality

How does your real personality differ from your online personality? Or are they just the same? Usually, introverts are more expressive online. Sometimes, outgoing/cheerful people can be very emo in their blogs. Has the internet help you realize a different side of you? If so, which then is your real personality?

It's true that introverts are more expressive online because it's a medium they can feel more readily expressive through- and one thing, no need for eye contact online. As for extroverts, they can't use any body language to help them communicate what they want to say and they're likely to use bigger, more expressive words to express their thoughts. I'm an introvert in real life and it goes through to others online too. That's something i can't change and i'm still me afterall, despite being more communicative at times online. I try to be more open online as i realise that nobody can read my body language and maybe figure out what i am thinking without words. If i'm not open nobody will get to know me and might even be hard to make friends online. So naturally most people are more expressive online, and what's more we have our computers to hide behind and relish an anonymous personality.

I'm a very shy person and usually stay to myself. Online I normally do the same thing, it took me a while to build up the courage to start posting even on this site. I am a little less inhibited when it comes to online chatting and posting, but not too much. The internet did help me realise that if I find the right people I can talk for hours and hours before getting tired, so maybe with some practice on forum sites such as these I will come out of my shell a bit online and in real life.

This is very true. I am normally the laid back, nice staying to myself kind of guy. I am naturally rather shy, however online I am more confident. Weird I know.

The main difference between the real me and the online me is, online I don't tend to suffer from "foot-in-mouth disease" nearly as often as I do in real life. I've always been one of those people that says exactly what I think. Online, I tend to think things through before I say it... whereas, in person I tend to say it before I really think it through.
