Ever Have Septoplasty?

"Anatonomy of Nose" - I recently had septoplasty and it's kinda neat to see the anatomical view of the inside of the nose.

Have you ever had septoplasty? Over the last couple years, I've been realizing how difficult it is to breathe through my nose. I can't kiss my husband w/o turning my head after seconds. I am one of the people that takes longest while eating. I have to chew, swallow, and then breathe. One day, I was @ my family doctor's office and decided to ask about it. She looked up w/her scope. When she said, "Have you ever broken your nose?", I knew something wasn't right. I said, "What, a deviated setpum?!" Of course, that's what it was. So, I was scheduled w/an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist). He said not only was my septum deviated (slanted), it was "S" shaped. "OOH, great!" So, I was scheduled for septoplasty with reduction of the turbinates. The day after, the packing was removed. "Ouch!" That literally stunned me for a second. Sorry for the description; but, it was as if I had a tampon up each nostril with the strings tied @ the bottom (near my upper lip). My mother was in the room and watched. She couldn't believe how much packing was up there! Now, it's a week later. Well, tomorrow, it'll be a week. I still can't fully breathe through my nose. They said that could take up to about a month. My nose is still sore. Feels like I had a major bump. And, it's kinda "drippy" and I can't blow it for about 2 weeks. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Ewwww No. That just sounds gross in itself. But if you really needed one you have to do what you have to do. I understand. I hope you feel better and it works so you can go back to smooching!

LOL... thanks! It'll be nice if it worked properly and I can use my nose as an other means of breathing. Thanks a lot!
