Do you make cupcakes without icing?

Pretty much anytime I make cupcakes, they do not have frosting. As it seems like most frosting does not have a taste we enjoy, and the cupcakes seem to have a lot better of a taste then when they have icing. I made cherry chip cupcakes today, they smelled really great and taste wonderful, I think frosting would of made it not taste as good. How do you feel about frosting on cupcakes?

hello utopianidealist your cherry chip cupcakes sounds delicious and i can understand why that the cupcake that you have described didn't require any icing. i made a delicious cupcake that is a yellow cake batter and on the top of each cupcake is a delicious homemade marsh-mallow type filling and then they are each dipped into melted chocolate. yum i wish i had a cupcake right now. take care and have a beautiful evening.

The cupcakes have been gone for a little while. I am starting to wish I had a cupcake now. :( Just have to think of what flavour the next batch should be.

TnWOman...do you have the recipe for that marshmallow icing? Sounds WONDERFUL!!! I want to try it! Marshamllow is one of my favorite "flavors".

A cupcake isn't a cupcake without icing. It is like pizza without cheese...salad without dressing, cookies without milk! Gotta have the icing! I don't care much for store bought icing tho...I make my own from scratch. It is fantastic!

I bet I would like it better if I made it myself. I guess that is my way of cheating and cutting out additional fat, calories and sugar.
