How Do You Like Your Steak?

I'm fixing myself a steak for dinner, as I am typing this, so I thought it would be interesting to see how others like their steaks. How do you like them cooked? Do you like them with steak sauce or without? How do you season your steak? I like my steaks cooked just past moo. But, I'm very particular about my rare steaks. I want them browned on the outside and warm all the way through. I marinated the steak I'm broiling now for about 36 hours in a homemade marinade. Sometimes I just season them with a little garlic powder and pepper just prior to cooking. I don't use steak sauce on my steaks, but I do like it on hamburgers. *G*

Tender.. As long as it's tender and now chewy, I can eat them anywhere from rare to well done, seasoned with salt or steak sauce or almost anything!

I like it well cooked thanks. I will settle for a little pink but no blood. Some people like it still squirming. If I wanted to see blood I would slaughter it myself. I am like you though, garlic powder and a very little bit of pepper. Anything else and it overwhelms the taste of the steak, you could be eating anything.

All this talk of steak is making me hungry. Oh well I will take some sausage out of the freezer and settle for them. I have a huge roast in the freezer but I am afraid it will take forever to defrost and cook. I have some Russet baking potatoes and some frozen brussel sprouts to go with it, but no steak. Anyone want to take me out for dinner ... We could split a steak.

I'm afraid I like mine just past squirming. *G* You like yours the way my mom did. Like you, I like spices, but I like them to enhance the flavor of the food, not to overwhelm it.

If I am on a restaurant I used steak sauce, a little bit, at home, I eat it the way I cook it.

You sound like me... at home I cook things the way I like them, but for some reason restaurants never cook things my way!

I definitely like my steaks well done, sometimes I cook them in different marinades like honey soy or bbq,and that is how my children like them too,and sometimes I buy the masterfoods bottle which turns your steak into " pepper steak",thats a favourite in my house also.I remember the first time I went out with my boyfriend for dinner and he asked what I wanted, and I said you order for me,I will have what your having, which was medium rare steak, which I ate very slowly and learnt at that moment in future to speak up and order myself.:)

You marinate it for 36 hours. WOW! I know that taste very good. For me I like my steak cooked well. Real Well. I do love that steak sauce that starts with a A. It is so good. I normally just put a little salt and pepper. Sometime I marniate it but it is only for about 30 mins to an hour.

I always marinade meats for four to six hours, so they get a good marinade. I had decided the day before to marinade a steak, but then was too hungry to wait for it! So, I made something else that night and had the steak the next.

Medium rare with well-cooked onions on top. No, don't use steak sauce. That doesn't have to have the taste you want. Marinating ? Maybe, but probably not. Unless the marinate is something you really love.

Actually, I don't marinade steaks every time I cook one, but I do like it once in awhile.

I like my stakes medium done. As long as there's no blood oozing out, I'm good. Of course, using seasoning is preferable. And having gravy is even better! The really good beef though doesn't require any kind of sauce. It should be delicious on its own. :)

I love gravy, but I'd rather have it on the side with my taters. Of course, with country fried steak, swiss steak, and the like gravy is a must!

Peppers, onions, and mushrooms definitely appear to be the steak toppers of choice, don't they?

I like my steak medium done. I usually have it with pepper sauce and I love mushrooms and onions with it also. I also like it done on a barbacue in Summer smothered in barbacue sauce. I like it crispy this way for some reason. Enjoy your steak.

I want to hear it 'moo'! LOL I basically like it seared on both sides and run out of the kitchen still bleeding. And before you say it, I know......not healthy, all sorts of diseases, hard for the body to digest....yaddah, yaddah........ Since I am not a complete idiot I do not eat steak very often at all. I will even go ahead and eat it mostly cooked when I go out with other people so I don't have to hear the lecture--bad for you--hard to digest--blah, blah. I do want my hanburgers fully cooked though. Happy myLotting!

Someone after my own heart! Hey, next time someone starts to give you lecture on eating steaks rare, let them know it's not hamburger (you're correct, you should always have hamburgers well done). A steak needs to be heated sufficiently on the surface only to kill bacteria. Cooking a steak beyond rare actually destroys enzymes that help it break down during digestion, so the rarer the steak the more easily it digests. After you've explained to them the facts of life (or at least of beef) order your steak rare... the way you like it!

hello mareem your steak dinner sounds delicious. i like marinated steaks and i also like the A-1 Steak Sauce the best for my steak. my first pick in cooking a steak would be outside on the bbq grill, second choice my George Foreman inside mini grill that will hold one good size steak. then the next choice would be to pan fry the steak and then if not that, then broil the steak. what are you having with your steak dinner? thanks for sharing. take care and have a beautiful evening.

I love to grill my steaks on the bbq, but we have cold and snow much of the year, so I usually just broil them. I have a little electric tabletop grill I pull out occasionally, too. I had a green salad and roasted vegetables with my steak. I love roasted vegetables. Tonight it was red potatoes, onions, and broccoli roasted in olive oil with garlic and fresh parsley. Thanks for responding and have a great night!
