How long do you wait before marking best response?

This has probably been asked and responded to dozens and dozens of times here on MyLot, but thus far, I've not found a good answer to the question. It's probably because it varies. Who could tell me the standared length of time a discussion should stay open? Is it a few days? Few weeks? Few months? Next question. Can I recycle and rephrase discussion questions from years ago that got no response then or over 3 year's time? Anyone know why certain questions just stay available with no activity at all, even after 3 years?

I usually like to wait until there haven't been any more responses for several days or even longer, because sometimes after you have marked one answer as best response, another, even better one shows up. I don't see anything wrong with recycling questions. There is probably an entirely new set of readers out there that might be highly interested this time around.

I know what you mean Stringbean. I've done that before too. I think a month or two might be a good amount of time to let the discussion play out and sink into MyLot oblivion.

I wait for a long time. I do not know how to answer your last question tho.

Is a long time weeks or months or years? I wonder what others are doing. Do you know? And the last question I asked just because I have wondered how to get rid of all the no response questions of 3 years ago when I first came to MyLot and thought I'd write over 50 in the first few days, but didn't have a clue yet. I guess MyLot just leaves them there in the off chance that someone, sometime, will answer them.

I would say weeks, because as soon as I make a discussion, I go back to my oldest discussion and find a best response.
