I usually cut the piece of cake such that one piece is the bottom 2/3's (without any icing), and the other is the top 3rd (with a little cake and a lot of icing). I eat the bottom piece first, saving the best until last. However, since I am the cake-maker in the family, I get to lick the spoon from the icing, so I guess I eat icing first. And almost all of my cakes feature chocolate icing...

Haha! Yeah, before anyone, you'll be the first one to partake of that precious icing everybody is crazy about.

Since there are two beaters on my mixer, I always share if anyone in the family offers to help. Funny how there are more offers at icing time than there are for cake mixing time...lol

I absolutely LOVE cake and, whenever possible, I make one to have here. :-) I eat it all at once! My step-daughter likes to eat all the icing off first and then eat the cake. My oldest son likes to eat all the cake first, and save the icing for last. It's pretty cute to see them doing this.

It seems to be the trend to save the icing for last.

I actually made a cake yesterday with icing. I always eat the cake and icing at the same time. I am not much an icing person, but when it is eatten along with the cake it is good. If I am eating a cookie with icing in between, I will separate the cookie and eat the icing first, then eat the cookie part.

I always save the best for last by eating underneath the icing and maybe getting a small bit of it on the cake but at the end...mmmm....mmmm...I get to eat that wonderful icing all by itself!

Hello modstar! Well, I usually ate the icing first but a small amount only. You know, it's like tasting it and I will eat them together afterwards.

the icing... cuz it is the most delicious part of cake... but sometimes when the icing is very annoying i remove it in the cake it self... you know the icing thats so sweet and very thick...

i think it is the cheapest cake thats why my mom always take a big plastic bag full of cake that has a very thick icing... its just a waste of time eating it....

Waste of money too eventhough it's cheap because there's always something better to eat.

Usually i don't like eating cakes, i hate sweets personally, but lets say if i were to eat one, i would rather eat both simultaneously not half or the way down or my way up on the cake, Because if i eat the cake first the icing cant be eaten by me due to its sweetness, and if i eat the icing first then all remains is the bread. So i would eat them together!

whenever there's a cake, the icing will be the first thing you will notice cause it will surely catch your eyes.agree? i usually take a lick on the icing first before i take my very first bite of the cake itself. there are cakes that the toppings will caught my eyes and so the toppings will be the very first one to disappear on the cake

Me? I hate the icing though I seldom eat cakes due to much sugar in it not because I am diabetic but I believe in sayings" PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE"..

Neither, I gobble them up altogether! kidding. Seriously, right after opening the box, I lick the icing that sticks to the box. So I guess it's icing first. Then, when I get my slice, I usually leave the icing part and the moist bottom part to be eaten later on. While eating the middle part of the cake, I always feel like I have something to look forward to. You should include the bottom of the cake as the 3rd option. :-)

hmmm i always eat the icing together with the cake. most of the time icing is to sweet so i need to balance the taste by eating the cake together with the icing. when i will eat in a coffee shop i usually order cakes without icing. i am not much in for cakes with icing. but if ever i will have a piece with icing i eat it together. not the icing first or not the cake first.

I am still a big kid and eat the spongy cake part first and leave the icing for the end. But here ice cream cakes are very popular and when I have those I just eat at the parts at once. I have a major sweet tooth and LOVE eating the icing.

Since the icing is usually on the top, I'd say I eat that first. If I don't like the icing that is on the cake, I cut it off. Then I only eat the cake. A good example is German chocolate icing. I don't like it at all.

How about if the height of the cake is too wide for your mouth to fit which makes you unable to bite the cake with the icing on top? hehe..

23 Jan 09
actually I dont go for one or the other personally, just a big ole bite of both....LOL I dont want to spoil the affect of the icing by not having the cake with it..but if it is a special icing, not your ordinary icing, well then you may have to take a special little taste of it first....LOL
