Every one loves to hear compliments about himself/herself, so do I. I have noticed that the compliments which everyone loves to hear and may be its one of the most favourites of most of us – “Hi! You look younger or you are looking younger than your age!”. This kind of compliments makes us glad to a great extent, because everyone loves to look and feel younger. Do you also receive such kind of compliments quite often and how do you feel when you receive such kind of compliments, do not you feel happy in heart of your heart and pat on your back – “Look, I am still look younger than my age and can go a long way”. Do not you feel enthusiastic and excited to hear such compliments? To my mind it is the most sought after compliments and even you say it to a teenager or an older person, his/her faces starts shining and gleaming…….LOL!Please share your own experience and your opinion on it. Thanks in advance.

I agree, Deepak, that we all love to receive genuine compliments, and they do make us smile. For a long time, I did look younger than my age and someone would come to the door and say: Is your mom home? And I was proud to say: I AM the mom! Karen

Hi Karen! It looks great to know that visitors coming to your home ask you 'where is your Mom'. It shows that you really younger than your actual age and these kind of compliments certainly make you happy, I am sure. Thanks for sharing. I am sorry, I could not check your response earlier.

I think it gets more flattering as you get older. For some, when you are considered young and irresponsible as it is, hearing this can be a let down. My partner is always assumed to be younger then he is. We both now just say that he is "ageless" as he is often mistaken for someone barely in their teens when he is actually well into his 30s.

People never really say that to me. After finding out his age, they ask me and when I reply say something to the extent of "see, that is how old I thought HE was!"

Hi Deepak, It depends on the person who gives compliments. Suppose a person wanted to make me happy purposely I will really get angry. If a person says the same in an innocent manner which is appreciable, I think (lol). But I am able to judge who is saying purposely and who is saying sincerely. For answering your question, yes many said to me, I am looking younger than my age. (I am slim so people are wrongly judging my age)

My reaction would depend on who makes the compliment. I often get this compliment because people are not able to guess my age. And sometimes the clothes that we wear tend to make us look younger that what we actually are. If the person complimenting has said this innocently I feel very happy but get angry when the person has said it sarcastically or with not too good intentions!!!

Hello deepak! This discussion made me remember the past discussion I responded to. I was once responding to a discussion of a dear friend of mine "what do you project cute or sexy" by modstar and one friend of mine who responded there and she said that I look younger than my age. She said in my avatar I look 16 when in fact I am 22 already. Well, it's flattering. It feels good when someone told you that you look younger or something. I never fail to say thank you to those person who praised me with such sweet words..hehehe

So if I say that - You look 'younger' than your age, I can expect a big THANKS from your end..........LOL! It is really nice to know that if someone tells you that you younger, you feel good. Actually, it is a kind of positive compliments, which boosts our morale. It means that you remain fit and fine. Hopefully, in reality you actually look younger. Thanks for dropping in.

I use to get told that a lot. Of course I use to look a lot younger than what I am. Here lately though I have started looking my age and I'm not sure what to do about it. I love looking younger because I also don't feel like my age. Not that I am real old or anything. I'm 32 and feel as though I am in my twenties, unfortunately, I don't look it.

Please try to think 'poisitively', you still look younger, I can say, without seeing you or your photograph. It is our thinking, which makes us think about our age and it is said - 'You are as young, as you think you are'. So Cheer up! Many thanks for dropping in.

hmmm..it depends on the situation again. I've always looked younger than my age. Though it is a compliment, it's only now that I can take it as a compliment. It used to drive me and my sister crazy when we were younger and I looked younger than my age. Most people thought my sister was older and she's actually 7 years younger. This was at a point when she didn't want to look older than her 13 years and I didn't want to look like younger and wanted people to take me seriously (which rarely happened because everyone treated me like a kid). But now, after two kids, when I get mistaken for a college girl, I take it as a compliment:)

So in nutshell, you love to hear this comment and when you hear it........you feel all the more younger...........LOL! It is really good to know that you 'look' like a college girl, even after your marriage and two kids. I'll not exaggerate, if I say that mine is the similar case like you and your sister. If me and my brother are standing togather (he is taller than I) no unknon person can tell, who is elder of the two. I look younger to my brother, when he is 8-9 years younger to me in reality. I can also say with conviction that you look younger. Thanks for dropping in.

It's certainly a pleasure to get compliments like that. Even i have enjoyed my days when I was being swept off my feet by all those compliments. But nowadays it hardly amuses me. I look quite younger than my actual age. As a matter of fact, the difference is more than 7-8 years! People think I am going for my college when I am off for job, they think that I am still at prime if youth and expects me to behave like that and I have been used to stuffs like, you get down carefully, you as in TUM!! Now that's annoying! Sometimes, I feel that my younger look is deterrent to my personality and people kind of take me easy. And guess what, later when peers and colleagues find out that I am not that young they are like OMG!! As if, I had told them to believe in that or I have misled them! This is offputting. I would rather age gracefully for nothing like it and am very transparent about my age right from the beginning. It saves you from a lot f embarrassment as well.

Something was 'badly missing' in the discussion, before I could see and go through your reply. Without your response, the discussion remains incomplete for me.[em]thumbup[/em]. I can well understand your predicament on receving the compliment - 'Hi, you look younger'. No doubt, the compliment makes you happy inside heart of your heart, but it could also create a false impression for others. While conveying the compliment, the others may think you are too young to do certain things. You are right, if others come with a question mark, when they come to know about your actual age, it is their fault and their outlook, you did not force them to think like that. Nonetheless, it is great to hear that you look 7-8 years younger than your age and to as far as my opinion and impression is concerned, you certainly look younger than your age with a charming smile and innocence on your face. Many Thanks for dropping in.

I wait not for compliments coming my way but try to roll on to the years with positive outlook in life. When I am always in tune to the feeling of youthfulness in me I will try to forget the numbers that keep adding to my years. Well, if someone were to compliment me saying I look younger than my age, which I know I am no spring chicken, I feel like I am floating in the air filled with joy and happiness and that would inspire me to work harder to stay fit and ageless! But in reality we women could not hide our outward appearance. It is usually possible to tell a woman's age by the condition of her skin and the shape of her figure. There is no need to hide the advancing years by dressing fashionably as we might be accused of mutton dressed as lamb. An inspiring and honest compliment is a bonus and reward to an aging woman. It is these words that I hope to hear everyday so that I am not reminded of aging and it helps to smooth out the caresses of the wrinkled face with the happiness that is inflicted from such compliments.

Zandi!................So if someone tells you with all fairness and honesty that you look younger, you do start floating in air filled with hpapines and you get inspired by the compliments. I buy your arguments that there is no need to hide the advancing years and in case of woman her skin reveals a lot about her age. Facts cannot be hide, as far as age is concerned. I liked your cliche "mutton dressed as lamb" I am more than impressed with your candid approach and confession about yourself and it deserved to be thoroughly appreciated.

How could we not accept this facts of life. Everybody age, but let us age gracefully and receive all good compliments from others. They say what they see in us and that makes the receiver happy. Happiness is an inexpensive way to improve our looks.

I do not look younger as I am not younger one. I feel myself younger. But whenever I go in front of a mirror it tells that you are not younger. this is true and a mirror could not tells false. my mom tells me that I am still young as I was in my baby age. but no mirror and people could not say it they justify that I am not young. I should not worried about that truth as truth is truth and nothing than truth.

Hi deepak, Whether someone tells that to me or not, and whether I look younger than my age or not, I certainly think young LOL...I am mentally young and it has been told you are as young as you feel.. But I would never go out of my way to look young so that I get compliments - keeping fit is far more important than trying to look beautiful. Someone once said that Lata mangeshkar is ordinary looking but when she sings, she is the most beautiful person on earth.I have seen some very young looking beautiful ladies who are completely absorbed in themselves, so what is the point?..

Hi Kiran! I believe that you have a very positive frame of mind and you are on the dot when you say that one is as young as one feels. To be young is a notion, which should be embedded in one's mind. Yeah I have gotten that one alot, sometimes I'm frustrated and sometimes it does make me feel good. LOL!! I can remember when I was 23 or 24 and I was getting my nails done to go out on a date someone the lady asked me if I was getting my nails done for prom. I about fell out of my chair and I asked her how old do I look she stated 16 or 17.. I was in a way happy but shocked. LOL!! I also don't like to wear a lot of make up so I think that factors in as well with the wear and tear of you face.

Hello dpk, yes I am no exception. I also love to hear that I look younger than my age, but it's harder when you don't have much hair on top of your head. Apart from that I have been told that I still look good for my age and being a Capricorn I should in theory become younger as I age. I was also delighted by a test I did on Facebook recently to test my actual age. There I managed to take six years of my age. So it seems I am doing something right. Now if I only had more hair... Have a great week! UMart

Sincere compliments are always welcome, I think. People love to hear nice things about themselves. Kind words makes us feel happy and life much easier lol. I'd shine too if I get to hear "you look younger than your age" because it implies that I'm living a comfortable life--one that at least I feel comfortable with. I enjoy doing what I do and all those elements make me look younger.

People are always telling me how young I look and of course being a man whom is young at heart I would have to agree with them. Why last week I thought I was my grandson for a while and of course I could quite likely have been him. This is why I keep taking my vitamins and exercising every day. It helps keep me vibrant and full of life. Crocket.
