hi all! almost all people experience migraines throughout their lives. migraines are some of the most uncomfortable headaches that have varying causes, such as stress, certain food, pollution or any other adverse reaction to things. symptoms include severe headache, nausea and vomiting, and possibly a lot more. my question is, has anyone here experienced throwing up (or vomiting) because of your severe migraine? in my case, although i have never thrown up yet, i nearly did because of an extremely nasty migraine. my head hurts so bad that i feel as if i'm gonna throw up, but fortunately, i was able to suppress the urge with a tablet (an anti-emetic) and by eating sweet candy. although the migraine didn't subside, at least i didn't throw up because i'm so scared of vomiting. how about you guys? thanks and happy mylotting!

I have. I get very bad headaches from stress. Usually if it gets to the point that I feel like I'm going to be physically ill I just go with it because believe it or not I feel better afterwords. That fact makes me wonder if they are really migraines or not. They might just be stress induced headaches. Either way throwing up actually helps in my case.

I have had migraines that bad...and I pray that I will vomit because for some reason it helps reduce the pain. I have had them so bad that when I do finally vomit I hold the top of my head because I am sure I'm going to have it blow off from the pain. I also have had migraines where I didn't have anything in my stomach and had the dry heaves (It sounded like a frog massacre in my bathroom.) I learned very quickly to drink some water if I felt like I was going to vomit. If I could throw something up, it seemed to help relieve the pain. Two things I discovered to help with prevention and to reduce the pain (at least for me) First is that I take one vitamin B2 tablet a day. I read where it does reduce the frequency and severity of migraines, and for me it has proven true. Secondly, if I get a really bad migraine, I will lay with an ice pack at the base of my skull. It seems to help cool the blood going into my brain and that in turn reduces the swelling of the blood vessels that are causing the migraines.

I throw up and if not there is almost always nausea. I have a method to try and hold off that used to work better then but doesn't as much now. I would take medication for the tummy, drink a cola, and eat a piece of candy then I would find a very dark room. I have more kids and the kind that doesn't allow me to hide so I have to suffer more then I'd like.

I hate being sick myself but I too suffer from migraines and usually vomit as part of the "attack". I get visual disturbances preceeding a migraine and then the bad headache starts. I have to lie down in a darkened room with as little noise as possible. If I can sleep I'm usually ok, but I must say that if I can't I'm usually sick and that tends to clear the migraine. I was getting migraines so much that I am now on preventative medication. It doesn't stop all my attacks but I certainly don't get them any where as often.

One of the worst episodes I had ended with me tossing my cookies all night. That was before I was diagnosed with actual migraines. The doctor was playing it off as "teacher stress" and it got so bad that I couldn't keep anything down, could barely see, and a friend had to take me into the hospital. It ended with a shot of Toridol and Phenegran. Now I learn to catch them at the onset so that doesn't occur. Meditation has helped me a great deal in dealing with my migraines. I also avoid my trigger foods.

Yes I have thrown up from headaches. It is not nice at all. The actual throwing up almost always result in even worse pain. It's awful. Hope you'll never experience it, and that you will not have an headache for a long long long time
