What are ways that will help everyone to stay positive through the recession and depression? Do you have tips that help you to stay positive?

I am doing the same things that I have always been doing. Praying and trusting God. These are the only things that work for me.

i think it is important to stay positive during difficult times. i shop at thrift stores when i feel the need to shop and i also visit the library very often as we can get not only books, but movies there. we play board games as a family and try to have fun where we can.

I have impeccable timing, after a long break from work I am aiming to get back to work this year, despite the recession, I have battled a 5 year depression and finally seen the end of the tunnel and I am not going back down there. I believe a positive mental attitude is my answer and so far (touch wood) it seems to be working, I have two goals to work towards, moving home and getting a job, I don't care what job it is, I will put my hand to anything, as long as I get paid enough to be able to afford to run my own place, the two obviously go hand in hand. I also go to the gym as well which helps not only my health but my mental state too! So it's all systems go for Wolfie in 2009

During this time until we know exacyly how bad it is going to be I only purchase what I need and not anything that I just want. I also remember that I have a roof over my head and food in my house so I know there are many people much worse of than I am.

Just don't want so much. Try and remember the days when things were alot simpler, because we didn't want so many things. I forgot my cell phone the other day, so I pretended I didn't have a cell phone, only phone at home, where I couldn't check the messages till I got home. When we consume less, we save money. We make less trash. We make less pollution. That's definitely a positive. Did you ever think what a hassel it is to try and decide what toothpaste to buy when there's a hundred different kinds to chose from? Imagine only having five kinds to chose from? So much simpler. Shopping at thrift stores is actually fun, it stimulates our imaginations, and creativity. That's a positive. I think this recession can be a blessing in disguise. Maybe our lives can make sense again.

You have made some very good points. I like the way that you have explained this. I wish that the leaders felt the way that you do. I would like to see politics make sense....but yes, it may just bring families closer and stop alot of waste....but I dont to see any bread lines forming.....

I am afraid of what the recession will bring. I am trying to live my life as normal as ever. I do have a business deal going on thinking positively in this time of economic uncertainties. I hope we do not lose our money we have put into this adventure.

Thanks you for your well wishes. I cannot tell you what the business is because I signed a nondisclosure clause. Hopefully it will be sold and bringing money and then I can shot it off the roof tops.

Actually I do stay positive. For the most part it hasn't affected me yet....not in a big way. I do however watch what I spend and have learned to enjoy what I have around me instead of driving out to buy something new...I have stuck more close to home. I don't have any real tips on helping others stay positive.....but I hope they cling to the belief that things are on the upswing.
