98 % of all murders and rapes are by close family members or Friends of Victims.

As i was surfing through a site i read that 98 percent of crimes in the murder and rapes category are been carried out by the victims close family members or their friends , What might be the reason of such a crime is happening that too by their near and dear ? Share your thoughts ?

it's true about rape, the stat shows female or kids are rape by someone they know. specaily when it comes to kids. the percentage is high.
as far as killing i haven't heard if that is actully true or not. but either way i can't see how anyone could rape or kill people. ok i take that back if someone would rape my wife, daughter or anyone in my family i would have no problme of killing them myself

i often try to stay in tune with different things because i often find myself talking with young people about life and stuff.
but it's true the % of people are rape either know the person in someway or it's a family member
you always try to learn the sign to watch for when it comes to kids, how grown up act, trying to spend time alone with them, and how your kids act if something does happen like a big change in behavor

I can agree with the data for murders (i.e. 98% murders are by close family members or Friends of Victims), but for rapes, I think the percentage will be quite smaller. Anyways, lets not ponder about the data..
I think the cause for this is that it is the family or friends, with whom, an individual spends most of his time. And the more we come close to a person or spend time with, the more are the chances for disputes/disagreeing. This is probably why people often make their near and dear ones their foes and hence, commit such crimes against them.

are you sure of the stats? although i think mostly people commit crimes where the they have some relationships to their victims.i mean, who would harm a stranger who have totally no connection with you unless you are a psycho who likes butchering people up.

Hope i didnt made a investigation on the stats , but its likely to be belived as this is what is flashing in our day to day news.
