What would you do if you won the lottery?

What would you do if you won a large sum of money? Would you pay off bills? Travel? Donate to charity? Buy new clothes? Buy a new car? House? The first thing I would do probably sounds irresponsible, but I would quit my job and then pay off bills. I'd invest some and definitely buy new clothes, a car and go traveling. I don't think I'd be safe if people found out. Know what I mean? I might have to move! (secret grin) Tell us what you would do with all that money! Looking forward to your responses! Thanks!

firtly, i would keep the winnings a complete secret from everyone around me, family, friends, the press, etc. - but NOT because i would want be selfish about it! i would invest all of it and would want to be able to use it over time, as i please, to donate to causes i support, or to help family and friends in need. i would continue to work and live as normal, and make sure i have trusts set up for all of my loved ones in the event of my passing. i think that coming into a great deal of money can be a huge blessing, but sometimes people get carried away and forget that life is about more than money and what you can buy. i believe money can enhance a person's life if used in the right way, and if it is generously and graciously given to others, they will humbly and graciously receive it, rather than greedily.

I agree with keeping it a secret! Somehow when a person has money, they have friends suddenly emerging from the wood work! Thanks for your response!

I entirely agree with you, theweerouss. I would much prefer to be able to invest it quietly and help people for years and years with the interest. You have expressed your response beautifully.

If I won the lottery... I would definately pay off all my debt (which there is alot). I would take a vacation to Italy and Ireland (my two nationalities). I would buy a house~nothing too extravagant~I would have an inground pool with a waterfall and a hottub though. My two daughters would have the best education imaginable. My family would be financially secure~that consists of my mother, brother, grandfather, and aunts, uncles, and cousins. My family has 400 acres in upstate NY~I would build my dream log cabin and use it as a get away as often as humanly possible. Money would not change me, but I would have to say, it would make me a bit happier than I am today b/c I have absolutely no $$$ at all right now!!!

Hi 86steelers43, I must say that's going to be one elaborate pool system! Don't forget to add lights and a little color to really make things festive! Congrats on continuing education! That's quite a bit of property in New York! I visit Buffalo and Niagara Falls area about 3-4 times a year. It's absolutely gorgeous up there! Thanks for the response!

Hey puddytat101~ Good idea~I would add purple and blue lighting to add color. Thanks for the thought! New York is a great state to visit. We do have quite a bit of land, but we are snowmobilers so we need it! Plus, the men in the family hunt. Thanks for the comment back! 86steelers43

Hi Ezpada008, Actually, there was a woman who traveled from Ohio to Kentucky on vacation a few years ago. She bought a lottery ticket and won $360 billion something dollars. Then, she went back to Ohio and won the lottery again there. I forget the amount, but it was substantial! This is a true story by the way. But, you're very right. It's still a once in a lifetime event, or at least it should be! Thanks for your response!

You did not mention how much was to be won. If I won a substantial amount of money, I would pay off all of my bills. I would donate ten percent to my church. I also would give my family money in order to bail them out of their situations. If there is any left, I will purchase a house, then get a new car. I am unemployed now, but if I were working, I would quit my job. If I had a generouse amount of money I would not need to work, I would pass that job along to someone who is in need of employment because of the economic situation the country is in.

If I was lucky enough to win the lottery I would instantly buy a house. Because i'm only 22 trying to get on the property ladder is almost impossible especially with hardly any savings to put down as a deposit. This would be the best thing for me in my current situation. The next thing I would do is definately buy a new car something sportier and really fun to drive. However no matter what happed I don't think i'd feel like giving up working. What with being so young I think i'd have far too much time on my hands so might find myself a little bored. Perhaps I wouldn't continue to work full time maybe part time instead. That way i'd have plenty of time to do both work and any hobbies etc I want to do.

Thanks for the compliment. Work as an administrator in an oil refinery. The jobs ok and I enjoy it but the fact I work in an office which overlooks a very good very of the ships and Isle of Wight is what appeals to me most. The view out the window is amazing.

Hi Metalchick, Wow! You'd keep working? What type of job do you have? Your response brings to mind the statistics of past lottery winners. Many winners change their lifestyle dramatically and eventually lose everything they have acquired. Actually, I won't mention any other statistics, but they are quite scary! I commend you for continuing to work. You appear to have a good head on your shoulders, to be so young. Thanks for your response!

I would pay off all my bills, buy me a new house, get new vehicle ,new clothes, and just take a vacation and have so much fun i wont come home. If i gave to charity i want to see where my money is going cuz alot of places just pocket the money instead of giving it homeless or people who need it. But i would give it to people myself would be better then i know it get them a place to live and help them get a job and do them a great service

Made Me think for a while... coz suddenly my mind stretched its imagination all over the universe ...but back to your discussion,,, well i would make divisions of the lottery amount ,, where 70% i would like to keep it to myself, and the rest 30% i would love to give to my parents ...Of the 70% ,,,40% would be put to good investment plans,,20% for Travelling and shopping(thats especially for my imagination ) ..and the rest 10% i would make it earn interest and give that amount to as scholarship to my college at the end of their term ......it would help a needy student ....

If a huge amount of money dropped my way, I'd have a financial planner's advice for me to get the amount to last and to grow for me until the day I no longer need to depend it. From there, a suitable amount would go for all the respective responsibilities which my life holds. Princess

When i will won sum large money then i will think that this i have got because of god so if suppose there would be sufficient amt. then i will make the temple for my god. Then after i will try to fullfill all the dreams of my family members,my best friends. Because when they would be happy then only i can happy otherwise no need of spending money only on me.And after that if still there money would be remaining then i will spend those money on poor peoples so that i can get blessings of them. If I won, I will share my blessings with the poor. I will provide scholarships to poor smart kids, I will sponsor few families to have their own business. I will provide business to all my poor relatives. I'll get a house for my mother, we will make build up businesses all over the country. We will travel around the world. I will send my nephew and nieces to US for education. Invest some of the money for time deposits. What else? I think everything is covered. Of course we will collect cars. Are you against my plans?

Hi janelacson, I support your plans completely! I am big on education. It's very important to learn as much as possible these days or you may be left in the dark, literally. I commend your ideas very highly. You seem very family-oriented, which another plus in my book. What type of businesses would you create? What educational institution would you send your niece and nephew? Thanks for your response!

Hi malen_0106, I'm so happy to hear that some of that cash will go towards education. I support this cause very, very much! I might add that to my own lottery agenda as well. However, since I've already graduated college, I think I would develop programs for financially challenged people to get educated at a fair price. Anyone who wants to learn has my complete support! Thanks for the response!
