What if the prez. Froze companies from laying off people ? Froze companies from going to other countries? Froze CEO from getting more pay or spendin money like on new COmpany jets! If this happened I would think thatthe people that are working would have the money to spend and put back in to the budget. With all the layoffs less people that can spend and put back in to the budget. Also a way to hire back laidoff people to put more money back into the works. What do you think about this?

That's a crafty idea! If a lay off free were done then that would put more money into our economey instead of people having to file for assistance. The lay off freeze is being lifted in some of our surrounding towns/cities but it's still a far cry from where we were. To be honest, if we were all taxed at lower levels, then the CEO's wouldn't require these big salaries and the companies would be able to put money back into their companies instead of these big expenses as a write off every year. If the common working person were taxed at a lower level, just think how much more money there would be in our economey. To me, that's just common sense.

I bet this president would find a way to do that, unfortunatly that's not what America is about. This is supposed to be the land of the free. How free are we if our government is putting a cap on our earning potential. Any one of us can be a CEO of a company, the only thing stopping us is education and ambition. So what if you were the CEO of a company? Would you feel that it's okay for the government to tell you how much you can earn? Would it be okay for the company to tell you how to spend your money, or where to have your business? This country wasn't built by the poor, for the poor, and of the poor. It was built by all the people, including the rich.

no this country was built by very hard working people that didnt try to rob the country blind. If I was a CEO . I would think that what I am being pauid now was enough that some of the profits should go to the workeers not in my pocket. The presidents before has put a cap on wages. Moistly on the small people! the ones that work for a living and spend!

There have been rich, greedy people since the beginning of time. Don't forget that at one point there was slavery in our country, and the poor ended up becoming servants of the rich. Do you believe that the rich paid the poor well enough, to the point that the rich could only just afford their expenses? No. Rich people enjoy being rich, and if you were one of them you honestly wouldn't have the same thoughts and feelings you do now. Nobody is going to appreciate the government controlling their wages, and if a CEO can't make more than the average Joe, then what's the point in being a CEO? He'll quit his job and go be an average Joe for the same money, but with less responsiblity. Then where would our country be without all the CEO's? And it's not just them. There are many professions that are overpaid. Are you going to cap all their salaries? What about doctors and lawyers? Do you believe that we'd have just as many doctors and lawyers as we do now if they weren't paid as well as they are? Sure we'd have some, the ones who are commited to helping people, but would that be enough? How long would we have to wait for life saving surgeries if we didn't have as many doctors as we do now? The president has to consider all of these options before taking such drastic measures. Any decision one way or the other can cause a huge ripple effect. He has to take every possible scenario into consideration. Sometimes it doesn't work out for the best, but most of the time the president does have the best of intentions when making such decisions, he just didn't forsee the trouble it would cause. You have to keep an open mind about such decisions and see that although you might think it's a great idea, there are some out there it may affect badly. Without the rich people, our country would surely suffer. Don't forget the rich pay the majority of the taxes as well.

It's gotta be better than continuously punishing businesses, pushing them away, thus decreasing jobs. I can clearly see that the gov feels it's much better to put tons of money in the hands of the gov instead of some in the hands of the people and small business.. Sweeping long term tax breaks and less government waste and spending would be a better answer, but not as much fun for some I'm afraid.. Don't look now but gov has just morphed into much more/larger/huge government.

SOme of the Hotells lost lots of money on account of that and they have seemed to have lost alot the casinos are laying off poeple in the 1000s.

i m not sure that i gice you the right answer but i think its good idea to overcome unemployee people or even just fired them. but i don't think that this idea will be used by the company itselves

am sure the companies wont do it. The government probably will have to step in or we will necver recover if more people get laid off! Seems to me anyhow!

It would be great if he would do that, just like this 800+ billion dollar bailout that he's trying to pass, if he would just give it back to the people instead of the businesses, the people would have money to put back into the economy. I know they spend all this money on company jets, and company dinners and banquets, they need to use it instead to hire people back, and make more jobs, therefore people having more money to put back into our economy. I do hope things start getting better for everybody, I keep hearing about all these businesses and stores closing their doors, its sad.

I think that when people have jobs they feel more confident and are more apt to buy and put back into the budget. I think all the CEOs and the big business needs to tighten their belt and help corporate America get back on track. They need to have a sense of ethics to want to do this too.
