I make my own but when I need fresh starter, I buy organic unflavored yogurt and flavor it according to what sounds good at the moment. I use plain yogurt in place of sour cream (cuts calories) on baked potatoes and to cook with. I've flavored it for eating with instant hot chocolate mix, canned fruit, jam and ice cream topping - all different types and flavors.

Ok that is so great that you do that. I wish I could make my own!! and what a great idea, i never thought to use it for toppings, I usually will put fruit and granola on top of my vanilla ones to spice it up when I want something different. I will try to use it on more...thanks for the info!!! thanks for responding.

I also use an unflavored organic yogurt to make my own yogurt. I'll add small slices of fruit or I'll make an all-organic fruit smoothie using organic juice, fruit and yogurt...blend together and and ice and blend a little more. I'm lucky, my boys both love yogurt as much as I do.

I made smoothies with it last year too for the first time, they turned out very good...I didnt add the ice because I use frozen fruit, so I figure 2 for one...LOL that is really good that your boys like it too, it is so good for us!! I will make more smoothies during the summer, if it ever gets here!! LOL thanks for responding.

Yes, I love yogurt, it is my favorite beverage which is excellent to aid proper digestion maintaining a healthy body system. I eat yogurt several times a week. My favorite brand is that of nestle with fruits flavor preferably strawberry, it is really the best. Next to yogurt is probiotics, these are my regular regimen for a healthy stomach.

I love snacking on yogurt! I keep a hug container of vanilla flavored Danon Light 'n Fit to use as a base for fruit salads, dip, and to eat just plain. I also like those Yoplait flavors, but my grocery store rarely has any of those truly yummy flavors - my favorite is the strawberry cheesecake. I grab them when they're there, though!

Hi bookreadermom, You bet, yogurt is so healthy and much less fattening than eating ice cream for dessert. Here's a little hint you might like to try out on your family: Mix plain unsweetened yogurt (any low-fat brand will do) with your favorite flavor of Jello powder. If you really want to keep it light and low-cal then use the artifically sweetened Jello. I like the Strawberry flavor and Grape too. If you use Lime Jello it will be just like Key Lime Pie (my most fav pie in the whole world).

I don't like yogurt. I know if i could just learn to i could eat that more and be eating healthier. I just don't like the taste. I especially hate the kind that has fruit pieces in it.
