Do you go to the library?

Malaysia

The last time I went to a library was I guess few months back that I had to borrow a methodical recommendation booklet. I don't usually go to the library unless I needed some books and I don't study in the library in Russia. Well. I do when I go back to Malaysia since the library in my hometown has better atmosphere compared to here and they provite more books. Do you go to the library often? What do you do there? Study? Reading for leisure? or just meeting up friends? or perhaps dating in the library lolz.. Do you like the library you are going to? do they provide enough of reading materials? Please share your experiences. Thank you.

Hi there, Interesting, I have only been a member of Mylot for just over two months, and I too have noticed that my reading has gone down. this Mylotting business, is an addictive thing isn't it? Anyway, happy Mylotting and reading if and when you get the chance to do so!

When I was still a student, libraries are my favorite hang-out. I love to read and if I just have the time these days, I will still go to libraries. When I was in high-school, public libraries served as meeting places too but when I went to college, since I was a working student, it became my resting place too. I find peace in the library more than any other part of the school. Sometimes, if I was already done with my school assignments, I'll just pick a good book and read. I also get to borrow books that I read at home.

I live within walking distance of the church house, dentist, grocery store and Dollar General. I do a lot of walking back and forth. The city library just happens to be located between my house and those places. I usually don't stop there to rest, although I very well could. I do sometimes stop and check to see if they have my favorite author's newest book. Sometimes I check out audio books, which I like to listen to while sewing. The librarians are very nice and helpful. If I'm looking for a particular book that they don't have, they will try to order it from another library. Once when I was looking for a particular book about multiple sclerosis, they even bought the book. The citizens of the city have built a playscape for the children behind the library parking lot. The library is a great place for everyone.

I do go to the library. I don't go as often as I used to because I am just so busy and I don't have time to return the books, so I would get late fees and the such. I like to borrow books and read them to see if I would like them or to grab a book and read something different to see if I would like that genre. I love it in the library.

Oh yes, I go to the library about once a week. My whole family likes to check out books. I don't study or read there. We just go to check out books. When my children were little we would go to story time at the library. Now they are teenagers and check out and read their own books.

You betcha, since we have are homeschooling our kids. We take the to the library to get interaction with other homeschoolers as well as the library is such a great place to impart interaction with others kids their ages. Plus it teaches them about obeying the "no noise rule" that all libraries have. So we primarily go for educational purposes and we both like to read stories to the kids. They especially like going there to participant with the libraries various activities that they have specifically designed for children.

Hi Summer, Libraries and bookstores are two of my favorite places to go when I have some spare time. I can get lost in either place easily for a couple of hours. We live in and midsized city and I am so lucky because we have many libraries as well as an intra library loans system that is very efficient and very effective. I personally am disabled and so have a volunteer bring books to me once per month. At first thought I didn't think that I was going to like such an arrangement because I don't get to pick a row my own books to read, but it turned out to be a really good thing. I give the library a a list of all authors, topics, in subjects that I'm interested in and she will do a relevant search and send me the books. This is turned out to be are really nice treat because once a month I get a bag full of books and it feels like Christmas time because I dig through the book bag, to see what she has given me this time. I have read so many books that I have enjoyed that I would not have picked out for myself, so something that I thought was going to be confining, was actually a blessing in disguise. Happy reading and happy Mylotting!

I go once in a while. But my hubby and my daughter go frequently. She is just starting to discover the joy of books. She is 5. And reading is magical to her. I hope it stays that way for a while. We have a pretty nice library.

I love our library, for my kids. They have a completely seperate section, on another floor, designated for children. I try to take my kids once a week. We borrow movies and videos that go along wiith what we are studying at home. (we homeschool). Every once in a while, I will find some materials that go along with my own college studies.

Yes, I go to the library a lot. I take advantage of all that they got there. DVDs, books, maps, music and so on. Its close to my house so I walk over several times a week. Most of the time I go there with a purpose, for some information I am looking for or something I want to read for leisure. But I do not usually meet friend there. They do have all I need but if they do not you can order it on-line from another library. Then it is sent to the library I use. I also donate to my library, like books, DVDs and CDs. There is also an on-going book sale. Get books for 25 cents. I usually give them .50 cents ( call it matching funds). I think a library is the greatest resource a community could have!

Hi in my school days I use to go to library a lot but now I am not going to library as contineous as before. Now I am collecting books where ever I go, I'll see the books that are really interesting and collect them regularly as much as possible to read but now in working condition I was not able read as much as possible in my previous job. I am trying to allocate time for it.

Yes, I go to the library. A lot. Actually I use three different libraries in our area. Mostly I read for pleasure, but then again, if you write as well it's never 100 per cent pleasure, because you want to learn from what this writer did with this subject? I like the libraries I go to, but for different reasons. The one nearest to me is perhaps my least favorite. I honestly think a man would have to be very good looking to distract me from the books.

I haven't been to the library in years. I usually find the information I want on the internet and there are actually quite a few books for free on the internet also. We have a great used bookstore by me that I go there and get a lot for a little bit of money. Then I lend them to friends and family and go back for more. I guess I like having the ability to lend it to someone if I want and I hate being on a time limit.

I really do love going to the library but the two best ones are a fair distance from here and we really never have the time (I'll spend hours upon hours at the library LOL)...Last time we went would have been a few months ago unfortunately...

I like reading but I don't like going to the library. They have their open time and it's not flexible for me. Besides, the books in the library are old and dirty. I don't like it. I always like to buy new books and read them at home. Such as lying on the bed and reading, it's very relaxing. I love China

Hi lovesummer, I think the library in my small town could use some more books, but they do have great programs for kids there. My mother goes to book sales and buys books by the truck load, most are ex-library. She literally has 10's of 1000's of books in her basement. I usually just go to her house lol!

Eh, orang Malaysia jugak!:) I study in an English boarding school and the library (Learning Resource Centre/LRC as they call it) is fab. It's packed to the brim with just about anything from your run-of-the-mill revision/research materials to Ripley's Believe It Or Not compilations to...er, great fiction. And DVDs and audiobooks. But I don't think that's the best part of it - the atmosphere's really good. Our librarian is pretty strict but she's also very friendly and helpful, and she hosts lots of lunchtime/breaktime activities for the younger pupils in the LRC (helps the newbies adjust and make new friends.) I tend to hang out in the LRC often during my free periods (I study 1 less subject for GCSEs) and get my work done then. However, I also love it because I can sit in and read lots of fiction till the cows come home. xD Prior to this, the library in my old secondary school back in Malaysia wasn't too bad either. It was a bit too cluttered, though - and the atmosphere was just different (it somehow felt...cold.)

I go to the library often. I would say every week. I usually go to the public library where i am staying right now. They have online services there. What I usually do is order the books that i want to read and they would go find it and send me and email telling me the items are ready for pick up and I would go and pick it up from the counter. I just love the service they provide there. I get DVD, Audio books and books and i don't have to look for it. This is the only feature that i like. That way it would cut my time in half trying to find something that is not there.

Wow, every week! I normally go when I have finished the books I borrowed - we are normally allowed up to 4 books each time for a loan period of 3 weeks.
