If you can afford to put some effort, i would suggest your format your hard disk and install new Windows and other software. The other option for you is to buy good antivirus like Symentac, McAfee, etc or download free ones like Avira, Comodo, AVG, etc and when you do , make sure you update the antivirus atleast once a week (unless the antivirus software does it automatically). Apart from this, download anti spyware. This tool is different from antivirus and detects other type of softwares that might be residing on your PC to get your information or to slow your PC down or anyother thing. There is also an online virus scan . Search on your favorite search-engine "online virus scan", there are a few online virus scan services, which will scan and remove any viruses from your PC. Try doing all that and if your PC is still running slow, try the follwing 1- Run Windows Defragmention tool - it takes quite a long time to complete its job. 2- Uninstall unnecessary software from your PC 3- If your PC still doesnt start to work fast, you then probably need faster CPU and larger RAM. It is also possible that your HDD (Hard disk drive) has bad sectors in it (Bad sectors mean that the disk s physcially damaged at some places). You can run a scan called scandisk in Windows which can tell you condition of your disk. If there are many bad dsectors , you then need a new Hard disk. Hope it helps

If you only have thirty gb you should get rid of some stuff so that your hard drive is only about half full. Your computer needs space for temporary files and such while it is running. The less junk you have on there the better. Remember how fast your computer was when it was new without all that stuff on it?

Ha I've tried formatting mine, but at about 90% (which took nearly an hour to get that far) it just stopped, and some kind of error popped up... A lot of the problem is I only have 30GB of hard drive space ;-; total, not free...

If the disk formatting stopped, it clearly means your disk is faulty (it has many bad dectors in it) , and you should get a new one. You can try a few more times to format the disk and if it stops again, it confirms then that you need new disk. Do not format with /q format - Quick format

Same problem here. Sometimes, it's so annoying that my PC seems like a storehouse of viruses rather than of useful programs. I have scanned my system with almost every major anti virus program but none of those was able to weed out the problem. I think the only way now is to reformat my hard drive and wait for another attack. :-)

Mac still gets viruses but most are written for PC because most people have PC. If most people had Mac the scum would concentrate on Mac viruses.

i never had that kind of problems with viruses yet. but i am not into downloading programs on the net that is why i don't get them. cause i am not really interested on things to download on the net. i just download some basic things. anyways, i think that reformatting our computer will be the best way to get rid of these viruses. i think that the OS we use is not the problem just reformat it then i think that most of the problems that you have now with viruses will be deleted as well. but i know that it is really hassle to reformat and to download those programs again in your computer that you are using usually.

I agree you need CCleaner as suggested. Your Kapersky is a good anti virus and adding more antivirus programs will not help. You can try an online scan like Trend Housecall. What I would suggest is to go to www.freedomlist.com/forum and start your own thread in the PC Protection section. It is a small website but some of the best experts check in there. You will be asked to run one or more scans with one or more programs but I have yet to see them fail in cleaning up a computer.

well have you tried the new NOD 32 anti virus. Or the BIt Defender antivirus. they are good in this section as they are light in weight and won't create problem while in computer. their scaning is also quite good. internet comes with new viruses everyday so does the solutions for them too. viruses are created to increase the sale of the anti viruses...:) well all i can say don't install anything from internet without checking the authenticity of the web page...enjoy...try the trial version today and see the difference...

Try udating kasperskey and running full PC scan. If it does not work then try downloading trial versions of various other antivirus and scaning your PC. It usually happens that one antivirus does take care of a virus but another one can.

I understand that it can be really frustrating when we cannot do anything about our computer which has multiple problems because of viruses. It happened to me once and I learned a lot from it! I used to have Internet Explorer as my net browser. A lot of my IT friends told me that it's better to use Mozilla Firefox because it has higher security level and it has add-ons that block unwanted information from the internet. I followed their suggestion and added Malwarebytes that I run every week to remove unwanted files and programs from my PC. But of course before this, I had to delete all trojans and other files that made my computer awfully slow. This site really helped me a lot! ( http://www.computing.net/answers/security/trojan-horse-generic11/23504.html ) Now, I am very much satisfied with how my computer is performing. I love Mozilla Firefox!

A. Every OS on this earth is subject to infection by a virus, there is no impenetrable OS out there. B. Get some security programs like a firewall (i recommend comodo) and some antispyware programs (like AdAware, Spyware Search and Destroy, etc) C. Use your common sense when browsing the net. If it looks sketchy and the name is sketchy, then it probably is sketchy.

Sounds like you are experiencing some real bad problems there. My suggestions is go online and get CCleaner run all the tools it has to offer. Cleans cookies, temp files, prefetch, etc. The other benefits of CCleaner is it also cleans the registry which will help in many occasions. One more beneifit is that you can manage the things that actually start up when you first turn on your computer. Yes, can stop some of those annoying programs from actually starting. This is where I would start if I were you. A friend of my from IBM was the one that told me about it and I have been using it ever since. Hope that helps, Bobbi

What antivirus did you use? Try using avira along with avast. Don't forget to run anti-spyware scans like spybot search and destroy
