He didn't even lift the lid!

I got up this morning and half awake went in to go to the bathroom. I reached down to lift the lid of the toilet only to notice that there was urine all over the top of it. My son got up in the middle of the night to go and he did not even lift the lid to go. He just went on top! Now I have had issues with him not flushing in the past, but this is just horrible. Ever gotten up in the morning or middle of the night to find a surprise in your bathroom? How do I get him to remember to lift the lid in the middle of the night when he is dead tired and not really awake?

WE make sure to keep the lid up at night. This way when they are way to tired to even think about lifting the lid, it is all set for them. Look on the bright side.....at least he used the toilet and didn't wet the bed.

We usually keep our lid lifted all the time, because we're used to it. But boys tend to do things like that. I've noticed urine next to the toilet on a few occasions. I mean that's even worse if you ask me, they're standing in front of the toilet, but choose to shoot off to the side? What could possibly be going through their mind? But to make matters worse, my older 3 have treated their bedrooms as toilets. My oldest started it, I swear that boy has so many issues. But just about anything he does, the twins do too, even my daughter has pulled her pants down and just peed on the floor. Once she was caught peeing in her brother's bed! I mean come on!

hi lilybug! well, i did have some horrible experience, especially when there are guests in the house. but if the people are just family, there is not a problem. well, i guess if your son is old enough, you can tell him what to do do or what not to do in the toilet. also maybe you can leave a note in the toilet? i did that for the guests who do not lift up the seat and could not shoot their pee inside the bowl., and they don't wipe it. disgusting. take care and God bless you! happy mylotting!

hehe happened to me too with my 5 year old, i guess he was too sleepy to remember that he had to lift the lid before he pees. if its ok with you, maybe you can leave the lid open before you go to bed so that he will not pee on the lid. Since my little boy is still young, we just try to make sure that one of us adults would check on him when he wakes up in the middle of the night to pee.

my daughter sleep walks. she has gone to the bathroom, lifted the lid and gone. but she has forgotten to pull down her pj bottoms. we leave a light on. that might wake him enough to do the trick.

I have to admit my 4 year old nephew is awesome when it comes to not only lifting the lid, but he remembers to put it back down after he's done. One time I had to turn the light in an adjacent room to his on to find something, it woke him up and he was looking around like, "wait where is everybody?" I told him it was still night-time and he needed to back to bed. He asked in disbelief,"It's still night-time?" "Yes, do you need to go potty?" "uh, yea." He wobbled towards the bathroom and took care of business and then wobbled back to his room and climbed back into bed and was out as soon as his head hit the pillow. I agree leaving a light on for him. That might get him to focus atleast a little bit.
