Do you learn best by listening to a teacher, or by studying on your own?

Teacher - Teacher gives lessons to students while writing tasks on the blackboard.

When I was a student I remember I never could concentrate on what teacher is telling. I always repeated lessons at home. Before exams I usually went through my exercise books and remembered my notes. As I have a good visual memory it's the best way for my to study.

Really I guess I learn more when I have someone else presenting the material to me. However, I can be a rather self-directed learner and can learn some things on my own but sometimes there are those times where I need someone else to present the material to me, especially if it is something that I haven't learned before or something that I don't quite understand.

I learn best by both listening to the teacher as well as studying on my own. I like to outline the chapters I am supposed to be reading and then I can highlight whatever the teacher goes over and add in different notes. It helps me learn better.

No amount of reading will do good without listening.Listen first and read and see the effect.

I learn more by studying by myself. Cause my mind flies off when I'm in the classroom..lol..either that or I'm talking with my friends.

I think that I learned things both ways... When I was little, I wanted so much to learn to read and write that I alone grabbed books and forced myself to read, and I asked my parents for help, and I did learn to read and write before any of the other kids in my class. After that, I have investigated several things that I find interesting on my own, and I have learned a lot by myself. But I do think that a teacher is very important in education, because no one can learn everything by themselves, and a teacher can instruct you and solve your doubts if you have any. So I think I have learned equally by myself and by a teacher.

The best way for me to learn is to study alone at first and then listen to the teacher. Studying by myself is the most important thing, and I have learned a lot that way. When you study by yourself there is no one to ask if you have some questions, but I have done quite a lot of selfstudy projects and I have become better at solving problems on my own and finding my own answers. If I just listen to the teacher without having studied on my own I usually don't get enough out of it.
