Does ING Direct Really Give You $25 For Starting A Savings Account With Them?

I got a letter from them in the mail today, saying if I start an account with them, they will add twenty-five dollars to my account as a bonus. I've also seen their ads on television. Have any of you done this? Do you really get the money, or is there a catch?

Yes, it's no strings. I did it several years ago. They are a very good institution and it's easy to deal with them.

I don't know ING but $25 for starting a savings account sounds fair enough - that a good deal for them. Plus I'm pretty sure that you can't just withdraw your $25 and close the account again ;)

Yep, it is true! I have been with ING for many, many years and am quite happy. I got the bonus when I first signed up. I told my mom about it and she signed up and she got the bonus too. They don't charge fees, so it is really nice. They don't care whether you have 50 cents or $50,000 dollars in your account. Though, more is always better :o). They even have a checking account now that earns interest. They don't even charge a fee for overdrafts on it. They charge intestest on the overage, til you pay it. So, you could only be charged pennies and not the insane flat amount most banks charge. The transfering is easy from one account to the next or from one bank to the next. An outside bank does take a few days, but that is normal for all banks. If you sign up, I hope you enjoy having an account with them!

Ok, thanks. I'm going to sign up. I can't put much in there right now, but at least I'll be able to save a little money.

I don't know yet. I just start my account with ING Direct, and the offer is slightly different from you. I have an electric orange checking account with them, not yet a saving yet. They will award me a $50 bonus, if I activate the debit card, and also make 3 purchases from that card. I am working on it, and hopefully I will see my $50 by the end of the month.
