Doh! Nancy Pelosi -- there are only 300 million US citizens in all ...

Hello All, Did anyone else see Nancy Pelosi's doe-eyed gaff where she declared that 500 million Americans are losing their jobs every month? Was anyone else stunned that from among a whole room of educated journalists and a variety of other professionals, not one was able to muster the courage to correct the Speaker of the House, the third in line to the president? Then to boot, the gaff was aired by pretty much every media outlet, and all those professionals failed to snap to her outrageous exaggeration. With jaw wide open, I watched as anchor after anchor, host after host failed to correct this lame-brained gaff. The total population of the United States is just a hair over 305 million. So, shouldn't the Speaker of the House know rudimentary facts about the nation that she is paid to serve? Below is a Youtube clip of Queen Pelosi's bumblings. Please note that the CNN journalist seems completely oblivious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVl2nqjLVeA

At first I chalked it up to a slip of the tongue, assuming she meant 500,000. That is until I heard her repeat that number AT LEAST 2 more times. And we like sheep ignore the implications. That is that she is willing and able to look straight into the camera's eye, and lie to us and EXPECT us to swallow it.

Excellent point, Guardian! "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me."

So long as the media gives her a free pass people WILL swallow it. I find it amusing that those who accused Bush of playing the "politics of fear" are the same ones that are now blatantly lying to play on fear themselves.

By her numbers, the entire population of China would be out of a job within the year. Scary times, indeed. Are you surprised? I mean, seriously. The second in line to the presidency said that even if they made decisions they were certain of, there'd be a 30% chance they were wrong. And the president, himself, stated that it wasn't surprising there were earmarks in the largest spending bill in American history, aren't there always? Huh? Didn't he campaign on the premise that he was going to fix all that? And you want to know the real punch line to all of this: the American people elected these idiots.

"And you want to know the real punch line to all of this: the American people elected these idiots." Anyone can make a mistake in electing a moron. RE-electing however, is the real punchline.

I am beginning to think Washington has nothing but idiots running our country. No wonder we are in deep trouble!

Hello Sweetpeasmom, Thanks for sharing! Well, humor is a great gift, so perhaps we should thank Mdm. Pelosi. Nawwww, unfortunately the doe-eyed stupidity trumps the chuckle. Especially since this vacuous woman is third in line to the presidency, and in control over our one half of our legislative branch. That's the kind of material that great tales of horror are concocted from, don'cha think?

OMG, that's hilarious. Early Alzheimers? Maybe that's why they so easily spent the billions and billions and billions of taxpayer money. Somebody should tell them that there aren't enough people in the US to pay for all of that. The per capita spending is enormous. I would have loved to have my share of all the money they already spend and still will spend. The average American's money worries would have been relieved by quite a bit and the economy would indeed have been stimulated. But obviously they think there are billions of Americans, so in their eyes we all would have just gotten spare change.... You have to wonder how these people became the leaders of our country.

Hello Jonesy, Ya' know, I think that you might be on to something. Your theory explains much. The fallacy that the USA has at least 1.5 billion citizens (a minimum of 500 million who have become newly unemployed over the course of the last three months) might just explain why the Dem. leadership keeps adding extra zeroes to their taxpayer funded proposals. Hey, their mathematical errors don't effect them, because they don't pay taxes like the rest of us anyway. So, what's an extra zero here and there among esteemed colleagues, right?

Hello Duomai, I value freedom so much that I will always respect another's right to express their civil opinion. However, I just can't go down that road with you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here.

This woman has caused so much damage to our country. Check out the youtube videos of the way she treated the CodePink women. Her latest book was a joke and then because of her influence and $$$ pressure was obviously put on Amazon to remove most of the negative reviews from customers. She blocked the impeachment proceedings and so far the attempts to charge the previous administration with war crimes, etc. Also there have been questionable legislation that has been finacially profitable for her wealthy husband. She is so bought and paid for and such an embarrassment to this country on so many levels.

I saw the report of it... and the video. This is the same bunch that always ran Bush down as being a moron, and went after Palin like a bunch of rabid dogs because she wasn't sophisticated enough... or whatever their excuse was at the time. I think rabid dog is a good descriptor of Pelosi though... and she is pretty much a dingbat bimbo as well. I always enjoy it when these self-important pompous a$$es let their pomposity and hyperbole override the little bit of intelligence that they do posses... not that they have any real intelligence even on a good day. This reminds me a lot of the hoof in mouth that Major Owens suffered when he stood up in one of the chambers and launched into a tirade over the millions of slave brought over on those ships. His claim was that so many bodies were dumped overboard that the sharks changed their migration paths and began following the ships around. Rush ran the numbers on the figures that Owens was claiming, and determined that the last boat was due to dock in just a few years. This is indicative of the collective mental illness and delusions that run rampant in liberals, and a good reason why they should not be trusted with government... or anything sharp for that matter.

Hello Annie, I'm just not gonna' bite, Annie! Though, I do sincerely appreciate your civil interraction. Some of the vitriol of late has completely abandoned satire, and driven head-long into hate speech. So, I do want to take this opportunity to thank you for keeping it civil.

Yeah, but you weren't trying to scare your granddaughter... or were you? Part of the issue is that she said this as a scare tactic, the other issue is that the media completely ignored it. I was watching CNN when she made this statement and nobody said a word. I know Hannity covered it, but his viewers don't need any new reasons to think less of Pelosi.

I saw it, laughed, and quickly noticed that nobody around her, in the audience, or on CNN pointed out that there are only 300 million people in this country and that only 151 million are in the labor force. http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/ACSSAFFFacts?_event=&geo_id=01000US&_geoContext=01000US|04000US12|05000US12086&_street=&_county=united+states+of+america&_cityTown=united+states+of+america&_state=&_zip=&_lang=en&_sse=on&ActiveGeoDiv=geoSelect&_useEV=&pctxt=fph&pgsl=050&_submenuId=factsheet_1&ds_name=ACS_2007_3YR_SAFF&_ci_nbr=null&qr_name=null®=null%3Anull&_keyword=&_industry= Can you imagine the way they would have reamed Sarah Palin if she said anything that stupid? Gotta love that free pass Pelosi gets.

Hello Taskr, Hmmm, what if Sarah Palin had made an identical gaff??? Well, certainly the late night comedians would have had a field day with it. Oh, and of course the vixens on The View would have salivated, snarled, then spewed. And then there's The Kos. Wasn't their overall view of Sarah Palin that she should be extracted from public life, at all costs? What odds do you suppose I'd get if I purported that Mdm. Pelosi will recieve the same treatment???

LadyLuna, I believe this is caused by the aura created by the "messiah" himself and no one in the MSM groupie cult will ever question anyone who supports their savior! Of course she could be taking into consideration all of the illegals that could be losing their jobs. I have to tell you, every time this woman opens her mouth she proves just how unintelligent and liberal brainwashed she has become!(or was she like that from the very beginning?)

Greetings Sir Rodney, Hmmm, collective delusions? Ya' know, I thought about all those illegals, since they are a priority constituency for Mdm. Pelosi. Though, the highest estimate was suggested at 20 million, and word is that many have returned home since the economy turned south. Which must be the reason why the new administration made the SCHIP legislation such a priority -- it is a 'free health care' bait to lure all those voters back to Nancy, Barbara, and Diane's districts. Hey, the bait is directed at anyone up to the age of 30 -- and that's alot of votes, right?

Can you say open mouth insert foot. But really what she was trying to do is inflate the numbers to try and scare people to get support for her bill. Ie lying to get support for her bill. The real numbers are bad enough. But what she fails to tell you is that this bill will not fix the problem. But then she is not going to say that fact either.

Hello Lilwonders, Yes, I can say "open mouth insert foot". Though, I'm more interested in how fabulously Mdm. Pelosi could botch saying it. Let's see, how 'bout: Open ear, insert Texas. or, Open door, insert window. or, Open the taxpayer's wallet, and take whatever we want.
