Would You Give to Help a Child you Have Never Met?

If you are like me you have seen all those commercials on television about sending less than a dollar a day to feed a hungry child. It is hard to picture the help getting to the right place for me, call me jaded but I have heard to many stories of currupt people stealing the money or misappropriating it, and governments that dont allow the food to get through. I would love to help but I have to wonder if it would. That is why I was happy to find through another site the link to help a family right here in the USA. Now they are not starving and do not pretend to be. They are simply a young couple expecting their first child and live in the mountains of North Carolina. The only donation they asked for was a paltry dollar! I was happy to do it! It felt good to send even such a little bit to a family just starting out. Plus they are promising to give 20% off the top to local childrens charities. If you are interested the address is ( if I type it in right) http://www.dollarforababy.com They in no way asked me to do this, nor do I get one single thing for it! I seen it in a message I recieved on another site and wanted to share with you. Thanks for reading my discussion.

Like you, I have my reservations about sending aid overseas...you have no way of knowing if your really helping kids or just lining some officials pocket. I'd rather help ppl in our own country. At the same time, I wouldn't just send it to random ppl...I'd donate it to local food banks, thrift shops, missions, Salvation Army's. I know they help those that need it and it actually gets used for what it's meant to be used for. I know a family that gets plenty of money but still goes online with a sob story...asking for just $1.00...and ppl send it to them. They don't need it and in fact save it up to take summer trips instead of paying their bills which they get local churches to pay for them. It's a scam they do and their not the only ones to do it. Feels good to give doesn't it. We sponsor a child in San Salvador and with all the traveling we do one day we will go and visit her. I think its great what you did and what you have done to spread the word, its in the selfless acts that God gives you all the joy you can handle and when we recognize it he always get the praise.

most those kids are grown that you see on the tv they use the weak children to rake in cash.do not be fool by these people iam not saying all oganization is doing this but some of them do do this so you will feel sorry for a child.because we all want children to be taken care of.but i don,t think all this money goes to the children as they say.
