It's been over 2 hours and my sister is not home yet.

My sister stopped by my house tonight on her way home to pick up some stuff from my other sister. She lives about 10 minute away, and she's still not home yet. She called me when she had been in her car for 2 hours (and had to pee) because she wanted to let me know that she was sitting in traffic. Where she lives can be a royal nightmare when there's an accident. There's only one way in and one way out - by land - so you can't go anywhere until they clear the accident up. She's been sitting on the road, waiting for over 2 hours just to get home. Everything I bring up on the internet tells me that the accident is about a 1/4 mile in front of her (there's two places we figured it was and this was one of them) and everything says the road is closed in both directions and to find alternate routes. Well, there are no alternate routes! That's the only road in for her. It's actually been about 2.5 hours and I've just talked to her again. It looks like traffic is moving, she's seeing some vehicles coming from the other direction. I'm sure it was a nasty accident, but I'm glad my sister wasn't involved in it. If she hadn't stopped at my house on her way home, she might have...

I am glad she did stop at your house and did not get involved in the accident. I hope by now she got home after a week of sitting in her car she would be stinking by now.

Hi reinydawn. Yikes... that must have been soooo frustrating for her! I can't imagine having to sit for that long when it usually only takes her 10 minutes. Poor thing! It has been 6 days, I see, since you posted this discussion so I SURE hope she is home by NOW!

Yes, she made it home that night. It was a very bad accident with one fatality, that is why the road was closed.

Glad your sister was okay and she didn't have any other type of accident as well. The other day to work was a nightmare. A barge had hit one of the bridges and they closed the bridge down for awhile. Well traffic was backed up for at least seven miles while everyone was taking a detour to the other two bridges available. Luckily though the other bridge that was closed after about twenty minutes of me sitting in traffic and only made it about a mile from my house, I turned around I finally made it to work in about 65 minutes which is usually a twenty minute drive.

Man, I have been on the roads so many times and come across an accident and thought, man, I'm glad I was running late today. Everything happens for a reason. I know your sister will be glad when she gets home and I'm sure she is very thankful that it wasn't her in the accident.

Once when I talked with her, she was telling me how some of the guys in the truck behind her we walking into the woods to go to the bathroom - she was very envious. I know she was thinking it was better to be stuck in traffic than be stuck in the accident.

Ah, that's pretty scary she could've been involved in the accident. Good thing she wasn't. It's never fun sitting in traffic for such a long time, when you're so close to home.

If she knew it was going to take that long, she would have come back to my place and waited it out - at least she could have gone to the bathroom!
