Many times, the impression that a person makes on me with his looks is totally different than his personality. Like, some look aggressive and angry all the time, but they turn out to be very jolly fellow with great sense of humour. What I have learnt in life is that we come to know about people only after being close to them, making friends with them. I wonder if people make their opinion about others just by looking at them!!

Ya judging people just by their looks is very bad.We are not a monk or a priest to predict what they think just by staring at him.We are a very normal human beings. We have the sense to judge others not by seeing their rude face by seeing their minds. Many people who look pretty angry look when we see them. But in fact they might have a kind heart. But sometimes rarely our prediction may be correct. But in most of the cases it will go wrong.Hence we should avoid it.Whenever you see a new face don't just think about their just try to find out the natural character. If you do this you can feel that hoe ugly your prediction is! Many of my friends fall in this category. They just judge a person good if he/ she is smiling at them.I really don't like this. Thanks for posting Happy myloting

Hi amitksing. I totally agree with you. We can not judge people just by their looks. I am a perfect example of someone who is always mistaken as snobbish and indifferent because of my facial features. It is only when people get to know me that they find out that I am the exact opposite. I also have a great interest in people and love hearing their stories. My friends think I am a good listener and counselor. I guess that we find great people and friends only if we begin to look beyond their appearance and learn to look into their hearts and minds.

Wow, we have a lot of things in common. Even people judge me to be very serious guy but I am just the opposite. I love playing pranks and making fun.

when you have enough experience in dealing with people you would understand why people look that way. yes, i do judge people with the way they look. if let us i see someone with dirty shoes and a not so nice looking pants and shirt i would say this guy does not have enough money to purchase good clothing or someone who jut does not care at all. if someone has a lot of wrinkles in his face , i would say that this person has gone through a lot of pain and worries and have hurdled the it, must be a wise man. if i see someone who has a wide forehead or balding head , the guy is verile and very sensual. i could go on and on with how people look would reveal the kind of person he is. another example is if a person has an arched back , the guy have gone through tough times in his life and during those years ,he is kinda introverted. so, you see it is not bad at all to judge someone by the way he or she looks because it provides us an edge on how to deal with different kind of people.

I tend to judge people more by the way they act rather than how they look. I hate stupid people, and I have no problem judging them negatively...I work in a restaurant too, so I see their stupidity every night...

Your work involves interacting with people. I am sure you would have become a good judge of people by now! Thanks for the post!

I still believe that, for the most part, people are good. I know there are plenty of good people still left in this world, and I have the pleasure of knowing a lot of good people, and getting to interact with them almost daily. However, the stupidity and the lack of common sense, not to mention the RUDENESS of some people never ceases to amaze me...It is the rudeness and lack of common sense of some people that make my job harder...

Actually I used to do that before. Judging someone because of its physical appearance. But then a I get matured, I realized that it is not a good practice. I know that some of us look in physical appearance of a person in judging them. Because that is the very first thing we see on them. So we cant blame ourselves from doing such. But actually, we should always know that person so well before judging them on what kind of person they are because it is a great sin to judge someone immediately.

No, can honestly say that I don't do this. Growing up, my family always told me that because I was so ugly people would have to get to know the good person that was inside me, and that I would have to do that with everyone too. Then, they said that, even if the person isn't ugly like me, that I would still have to look at their "inner person" to make any appropriate judgements.

NOOOOO!!! i dont want people to judge me on how i look so i dont judge people based on how they look. its like dont judge the book by its cover. it maybe just a hard bound book but its all colorful and funny inside. if you are looking for a job then that will often happen to you. people look at you then judge you but if you go for freinds i think you better have to give a chance to know the person better before jumping to any conclusions.

yea I think it's very interesting. I have met some people who looks so like "r I'm gonna eat you!" but after talking and getting along with them, you will find out they are very funny and nice people. Sometimes people look so cool, so pretty, they might big liar. So I don't judge people by looking at their appearances.

not at all. ofcourse i dont have the right to judge them. its offensive if i judge them the negative way. i want to know them first and then reflect and then judge them.. i know its very hard to judge people, but others are doing that just for fun. like here in my country, first impression is so important, but most of the first impressions aren't correct when u get to know the person properly. :) wy:)

I just people by the way they look more often than I should, but probably not as often as most. I think you really can't tell a persons character by how they look. You really need to get to know them in order to figure that out.

Yes..i judge after the first impression..but is a judgement that is based only on the look..if i know the person then i usually change my mind..if i don't get to know him/her i will judge from what i think..but i keep the idea for my self

I guess its natural for us humans, to judge other people just by looking at their physical attributes. we all do stereotyping especially to those people we are not familiar with. I myself is guilty of doing that at times but I do agree with the cliche that we should not judge a book by its cover. After all, looks can really be deceiving.
