Would you vote a naturalized filipino to rule the country?

Let's assume that the constitution would allow it. Would you vote for a naturalized filipino to be the next president? Let's say that the person does not have a filipino lineage but has lived in the Philippines all his/her life, has the qualification to rule and has interest nothing but the interst of the Philippines in mind. Would you allow it? We know that in America, Arnold Schwazenegger was elceted even though he was not born American. What are your thoughts?

yeap! maybe naturalized filipino are better than pure filipino blood. not that im discrimanating my own-blood but you know we all know that our government and its parties aren't that good enough to handle our country. we really dont know who is true and who is not. maybe, if a naturalized filipino can lead our country, he will apply some changes for the good of the filipino people. i just hope he will not be corrupt and he wouldn't steal money from the filipinos. wy

I think corruption is the biggest problem in the Philippines. I think there are still some potilcians who's sole purpose for running for office is to serve. The biggest challenge for them is the influence of other tradtional politicians. Imagine if you mix a fresh tomato to a basket of rotten tomato. I think that the fresh tomato will rot as well. Thanks for the response

Arnold Schwazneggar is fine but look at the other side of the coin. I mean the Peruvian President of Japanese lineage who ran away from Peru fearing impeachment and is hiding in Japan when last heard of.A naturalised citizen is always the better choice and should be the natural choice.

Thanks for the response. I have to say that I don;t agree that Naturalized citizen is not may first choice if the constituion. Naturalized citizen is a foreiger who changed his nationality to become a filipino. Thanks for the response

I simply meant that a filipino born in Philipines is the right choice.Good or bad for the filipinos' to decide.

Totally no prob to me. It this person live here in the Phil. all his/her life and has the best interest for Filipinos, then I don't see why he/she shouldn't be elected. It's not a matter of race but a matter of intention. Anyone who wants to help the country grow are more than welcome to run for an office.

I like what you said about "It's not a matter of race but a matter of intention" I agree with you on that. But off course, not all Filipinos feel the same way. Thanks for the response

If the nominee has purely the heart to help the country to be better off I guess I would agree to this. But of course I still want to have a pure Filipino to serve us.

there's no problem with as long he/she can handle it more than a true filipino born citizen. It's a matter how he/she rule the government not for her/his own sake. If the aspirant is qualified for the position why i refused to vote him/her. Based on our experience all filipino born citizen can't handle properly in ruling our country so i think better to try others experience.

as long as he loves the country and he's willing to guide us to the right direction to improve our economy and unite all the filipinos. it's really not important anymore. i would rather choose to let philippines have a president who isn't a natural-born citizen than to let it have a president who is natural-born but doesn't even really care about the country.

Thanks for the response. I agree with you that as long as the person agenda is for the improvement of the country, it's okay for me. Though I think people would be skeptical. He has to build the trust. He would also have a hard time uniting the country if his not a natural born filipino. Thanks for the response

That'll be fine with me.. maybe they'll have more concern to our people than those of the leaders we have now who are natural-born..

I think it's better that we are ruled by a foreigner whose heart and mind is in the philippines than a natural born Filipino who is corrupt and is a thief!

Hello king4aday! Well, I would still vote for him as long as he has all the qualifications and I can really tell that he cares about our country. I even voted Fernando Poe eventhough there are humors that he is only a naturalized filipino.

It is alright. As long as he/she can help, not a problem at all. Race is not the issue in becoming President, it is Leadership. Let them run in the next election.

As long as he/she can make a big difference, why not? What the Philippines needs right now is a breath of fresh air. Maybe a naturalized Filipino who can prove his love for this country can change all our lives. Really, I think we're all just hoping for a miracle right now and anyone with credibility and sincerity just might bring us that.

It's fine with me as long as he's a patriot.. I believe we dont really need ruler who's too intelligent.. For me, the very first qualification that a president must have is, love for the country. If he's not born in the philippines but has lived here all his life, then he could be a patriot..
