How is your life?

After I sat down this evening after supper having been on the go all day, I realised that I had become what I had spent the whole of my adult life trying to avoid; becoming a housewife. In the summer of 2006 my husband and I gave up our careers, sold our house and left our country of origin. We decided we wanted a complete change of lifestyle. As I don't have a career any more all I seem to do is cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, shopping etc. I have been trying to set up some kind of online business but have had not had much success with it yet. How do you feel about your life? Are you doing what you want to do? Have you ever made a life-changing decision that has left you feeling not regretful, but somewhat unfulfilled in your life?

I made a life changing decision when I left a good career, sold my house and moved 1,000 miles away to sunny Florida with my husband. He couldn't work anymore and has family down here but it was certainly a change of lifestyle for me. I stayed home for about a year but I didn't like being a housewife much either so I found a job. Since I was recently laid off I found myself in the housewife trap again and, like you, searching for something to do online. There's not much out there. I was going to go back to school but came up with the idea too late so I've been keeping busy helping my husband get his motorcycle shop ready for it's grand opening in a couple of weeks. After it's open I'll alternate between being a housewife and helping at his store.

Hi spalladino, thanks for your response. I wish you and your husband the very best of luck with the motorcycle store, sounds like it could be fun.

I am quite happy with my life at the moment, I have worked hard over the years as I am single and have paid my own house off at an early age I might add and today I just live off my small investment from my redundancy..I have a few friends who are in the same position so we visit each other and I look after my webpage and help out a little some friends in the music industry as far as taking photos and a little promoting, not for payment but because i love doing it...I have lost a few very special people in my life and I was able to help them through some bad times and today i am just happy to live a very simple life and so long as I am healthy and have my friends I am very happy, I guess you could say I have learnt to appreciate the simple most important things in life...
